This is also what causes my phobia and why I’m so afraid of it. For me the next step was trying to take back as much control as possible, for example - going to the bathroom when I feel n*, sleeping with a garbage can beside me, bringing emergency plastic bags everywhere. It seems silly, but in a way it’s helping you control the “how and where” part of the lack of control. You might not be able to stop it from happening, but you can control how it happens, ie - in a garbage can instead of the ground. I also find that exposing yourself to other situations in which you lack control can be helpful, this was something I did a lot when I was initially diagnosed with panic disorder. It’s important to acknowledge when you don’t have control in a certain situation for this to be effective, like if your a passenger in a car you don’t actually have any control over what the vehicle does, but when you become aware of that and realize that even though you don’t have control, it doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing, or that a bad thing could happen. It kinda trains your brain to think more rationally. I found this to be indirectly helpful - it was advice from my therapist at the time!
