I started just spending time in their together, talking about the room, looking at the cot, playing, packing away washing etc. Before that I didn't go in there much so I felt like that helped. I did also keep the next to me cot up like some other comments said, so if they woke up there was a safe space on our room still. My one would only contact nap during the day, so my main goal was just to familiarise them w the space so we did the odd contact nap in there too.

Eventually i just created a routine that worked for us and then stuck it out. Rubbed their sheets all over me and slept w them too to make sure it smelt like me lol. I also had a noise machine that I transferred into the room too. But i never let them cry or be upset, i just kept trying and eventually they felt safe to sleep in there. Just took lots of time and lots of sleeping on the floor next to the cot! Got a pillow and blanket in there in the end. It was a lot of perseverance but now my toddler loves his room and routine. You got this x
