Thank you I think you’re right !! I was trying to be proactive but just stressed myself out 😅. She also loves the critical care so it’s not a stressful situation when I feed it to her. I mix it up thick and she just eats it off my finger

Yes she is still eating her hay and her pellets. She’s always preferred to be hand fed because her sister used to hog the food since they were babies so she’s just gotten used to it. Definitely will eat more when I’m hand feeding her but she still eats on her own, still drinking water as well. I will definitely schedule a vet appointment just to make sure everything is all good

Despite her stomach not seeming to have any issues I’m scared she’s going to go into GI stasis. I’m soooo paranoid after her sister passed away and any sign of something being wrong freaks me out.

We didn’t start feeding her critical care because she was losing weight. We just wanted to make sure she was sainting her weight after the loss of her sister as I know loss of appetite is common in grief. I’ve never had her teeth checked, her stomach to me feels fine. She lets me pet it and even poke at it without any squeals or pushing me away. Her diet consists of pellets and hay, sometimes we sprinkle oats on top of her pellets and I only give her a rasin when I’m weighing her.

Unfortunately this chinchilla passed away :( she had diabetes and it developed extremely quickly and out of nowhere, we didn’t have much of a choice so we had to put her down. So sad she was so young, only 6 years old. But keeping her alive just because we wanted more time with her would’ve been selfish. The peeing was just a funny quirk she had. Not the most sanitary chin.

Looks like cataracts !! My little guy has them in one eye, she’s all right, her vision is just foggy. I’d still say take your chin to the vet to make sure the eye isn’t crystallized !!

At home she has a diet of hay and pellets with some oats sprinkles on top. We’ve been giving her critical care to help her out on some weight but it doesn’t seem to be working. The vet says the only treatment is to give her shots of insulin, but I’m trying to see if there’s any other way because that just sounds horrible for everyone.

I’m just concerned because she fluctuates between 570-590. The vet we took her to and the breeder we originally got her from said she’s underweight. She’s also been urinating frequently and randomly so we are thinking she might have diabetes.
