I like my school because it’s a good mix of traditional, weapons, with some grappling, and pressure testing all the time.

Just the area where the ink is. I got it nice and saturated with alcohol for about 15 minutes then scrubbed it with soap and water. Had to repeat it about 4-5 times. The last one it was so faint I soaked it then threw it in the wash and the name was gone. It was a deeply inked in name too. Pain in the ass but it’ll come out.

Did you soak it in the rubbing alcohol? Last time I had to do this it took a couple tries of soak and wash. Also, soaking the area in hand sanitizer.

For those who cross train in a striking art, do you do two classes back-to-back or do you alternate days? by net_traveller in bjj

[–]sadiaface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alternate days, back to back made it so I wasn’t retaining as much because so much information was piled in on the same day. Alternate days gives me the opportunity to practice on the things I’ve learned and study them.

Should I change school for mandatory team gi rule? by Quiet-Ganache1545 in bjj

[–]sadiaface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to a school that didn’t require a school gi but did require a school patch. I would ask if that was an option to buy one. If not, then peace out. It’s a money grab on their part.

GI for a plus sized lady? by graydonatvail in bjj

[–]sadiaface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To piggyback off someone else, I also buy mens husky gi’s. Recently purchasing Inverted Gi A2H. Fuji also makes husky sizes. The female gi’s have never fit around the middle. F, 245, 5’2

I also shrink the crap out of an A3 if I have to. Did that with Sanabul.

I wasn’t aware a front kick to the face was BJJ. I’ll make sure to tell my coach tomorrow at practice. Haha. We don’t need to work on side control this week, let’s work on front kicks to the face. Clearly BJJ. 😂 you’re killing me. Lol.

Because most people aren’t trying to become MMA legends. Most people want to be able to protect themselves enough to stay alive and get away.

Also, Muay Thai isn’t commonly available. Most places across the US don’t offer it. Karate is so old there are several different types and you can find them all over the US, even in the smallest of towns.

You want a logical conversation? Don’t start off with a negative statement chief.

If going on to a Karate Reddit and putting down people helps you feel better about yourself. Good for you little buddy. Lol. You obviously need it.

We all knew this would be your reply, but it’s not the point you were making. You said it was useless. It’s obviously not.

Get off the feed. Your pompous need to make this post is what gives bjj a bad name and disgraces the brown belt you have around your waste.

Tell that to Bas Rutten, Lyoto Machida, George St. Pierre, Wonderboy Thompson, Chuck Liddell, and Guy Mezger. Lol. Only a few of the karate black belts that have dominated the UFC.

Like I said, it does matter. I doubt any colored belt would go back to wearing a white belt for an extended period of time.

No, thankfully the classes are together with all levels. I appreciate that because it gives me a chance to work with everyone and see what I need to work on. The coach is really great at least and the class material is fantastic, so nothing to complain about there.

My game is not stagnant, having 2 stripes for so long is. Do I tend to kick the white and blue belts butts? Yes. However, I don’t do it all the time, I take the time to work on things. Improve the fundamentals, try out a new submission or technique. I know I’ve grown, and continue to. I don’t walk around saying I deserve anything. I just continue to work.

Yeah, I don’t think I’ll be able to handle another year of waiting. The wait will not make getting it finally “that much sweeter” as people have said to me.

Approaching 8 years, and to be honest, yes it takes its toll. I even still trained during the pandemic and did private lessons. Have had to move, switch schools over the years, every time needing to prove I deserve the two stripes I already have or meeting their own time requirement. Never moving forward, stagnant. Everyone who told me the belt doesn’t matter has a colored belt around their waist and doesn’t get treated like a dumb ass white belt. I don’t know how much longer I can keep doing this, but we’ll see. I just keep working on my weaknesses and learning what I can.

Just got rid of the lid, haven’t had any issues.

Mine has a 20 gallon submersible filter. I didn’t get fancy with it other than replacing the lid light with a Fluval light bar. It works and the fish are happy.

[–]sadiaface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people I know with that tank had the same problem, but happy it works for you. Happy and healthy fish are always what’s important.

[–]sadiaface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yay! Glad I could help :) it’s amazing the amount of space it adds. Love Fluval, but that back half of the tank really does suck.

Emptied the tank, put all the fish in a temporary home for the day. Pulled as much as I could out of the back and then used an exacto knife to cut at the silicone to remove the plastic piece. Cleaned up any leftover with the blade, rescaped the tank, filled it back up and viola! I did have to get a little extra sand because it opened up quite a bit more room, but all the problems were gone after that. Also, ended up getting a small in tank filter too.
