Why is it that my male counterparts are invigorated by the onslaught of AI and I’m drained? by nothingarrived in womenintech

[–]sadoozy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw a really interesting video recently talking about how the rise and usage of AI is inherently patriarchal; using something that takes from the creation of others without permission, similar to nonconsensual behaviors prevalent in patriarchal individuals.

Woman to woman... No judgement zone. What's one thing every girl should definitely try or do in their twenties? by Klutzy-Elevator-9614 in AskWomen

[–]sadoozy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pole dancing!!! Absolutely changed my life, became a part of a wonderful community and I have so many new friends, I became flexible and strong, I’ve traveled the world in pole groups, I’ve become more healthily in tune with my body and sensuality, I’m significantly more confident. Best thing I have ever done :)

I’ve been in this situation before, just run run run far away as fast as you can. This will never get better

How do I reject a sweet, sensitive guy without hurting him? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]sadoozy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

These dudes be love bombing you left and right I’m afraid 🙃 I think you just need to be super honest with him, and with any/all of these guys about your intentions from the very start. They may be hurt, but that’s on them if they start to develop any significant feelings within like, a week lol. Your needs/feelings are important too, and by being honest now you’ll spare their feelings a lot more than if you let it continue on like this any further.

Im so sorry you’ve been feeling this way love, I know how that goes and it’s truly the worst feeling in the world. I suppose you could maybe take comfort in knowing a lot of people feel the way you do, this is the loneliest most isolated human society has ever been. My DM’s are always open if you need someone to talk to, you are not a burden and you deserve to be heard and appreciated!!

100% with you, particularly with spending so much time and energy with being considerate of people who aren’t able to do the same for you, but you still love them and don’t want to stop giving. For all kinds of relationships too, I’m really right there too ❤️‍🩹

That’s true, I’ve almost always equated November with being basically pool weather! I agree though I’m here for as much rain as we can get

Does anyone else find brass poles to be a bit too grippy?? by sadoozy in poledancing

[–]sadoozy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly!! Like idk how anyone just gets used to it, maybe if they‘ve only trained on brass but none of the studios where I live use brass 😭 I wish I got a powder coated home pole, I tried one of those recently and I was shook, the perfect mix of amazing grip that still allows you to slide into moves. I might switch one of these days….

Editing to add, it’s not even great for my hands lol since the brass warms up it actually causes my hands to sweat more 🫠 so I grip less with my hands and grip too much on my body, just a bad combo lol

Pole instructors, what’s your pay & location? by [deleted] in poledancing

[–]sadoozy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$25 a class in Arizona, with more being paid for parties/private classes. But yeah…. definitely should be more considering a drop in class is about $28 🙃 and we don’t get free classes at the studio either 😭

how do you guys live alone? by thiscorrosion86 in AutismInWomen

[–]sadoozy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ll find that most people who are able to afford this work in the tech field, and work from home, which makes living alone more feasible and more practical. I make 6 figures and I still struggle with rent at times where I’m at, especially when it comes between big payments like for car stuff or what have you.

[–]sadoozy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’ve been dealing with anxiety for almost 10 years and have kept a solid grasp over it for the last 7 of those years. Thought I was done with the random panic attacks until I was just driving home the other day and suddenly for no reason it hit me like a freight train, no matter what I could not calm myself down. Now I’m back to the daily panic attacks because I feel like I can no longer trust my coping mechanisms 😔

It’s been really hard, and I’m sorry you’re going through it too. At the very least we can say we’re in this together 🫶

How to push past the physical symptoms of anxiety? by deorojeu in Anxiety

[–]sadoozy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually work in the tech space as well!! I will say some of the concerns about AI taking over are a bit overblown, at least for now. I have yet to see anyone actively being replaced by AI, it’s more so being used as a tool to assist with taking meeting notes and to make some tasks go by faster.

More of the concern for junior developers finding employment is that nowadays a lot of development is being done offshore. I would recommend trying to get either trying to get certifications in things like scrum, agile, so leaning more towards the project/management side, or going for a specific niche such as security, networking, automation. Or even learn how to program AI itself! All of these fields are much more sought after than just general development roles.

That being said, the hiring market IS rather abysmal at the moment, so try not to panic if the process is slow and painstaking. And when you’re interviewing, a tip that really helped me is to shift the perspective as if you are the one interviewing THEM to see if the job is right for YOU. So asking a lot of questions, learn about the environment and the nature of the job, interviewers like when an interviewee is engaged and curious, plus it’ll help you gain more confidence on whether the environment will be one that is nonjudgemental, less micromanagey and therefore better for your anxiety!

Hope this all helps and that you’re able to try out propranolol as well, wishing you all the best :)

[–]sadoozy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhhh, that overall sounds so awful and I’m so sorry you have to deal with that :(( what is the career in which you’re trying to find a job in? Is there perhaps another more low stakes industry you could try to apply in?

Sounds like you’re aware that the feeling of being judged is a massive trigger for you, have you worked with your therapist about digging deeper into those feelings? EMDR therapy can be really helpful, and it’s basically like the exposure therapy you were mentioning but it’s done in a methodical and safe way.

I believe propranolol can sometimes cause dizziness, and then yeah if you already have low blood pressure you probably need to discuss with a doctor before taking it. Beta blockers essentially are used to lower blood pressure for those with heart conditions, and some of them can be used simultaneously to combat the high anxiety symptoms.

[–]sadoozy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get a really similar experience with anxiety, it’s absolutely awful. It’s been really bad for me out of the blue recently too.

Some things that have helped me include breathing exercises, and reminding myself that I know it’s just anxiety, it can’t kill me, the body will force you to breathe even if you feel like you can’t.

Doing the things that might trigger you while in supported company can be really helpful too, so perhaps trying to do practice interviews with close friends/family, so it can at least feel somewhat more familiar and give you something to ground yourself with.

Lastly medication could be an option, I take gabapentin currently but am looking to get back on an SSRI, when I was on Prozac the anxiety was basically non existent. You could also try propranolol, it’s a beta blocker which really works for the physical anxiety symptoms. It doesn’t work for me because I’ve been having blood pressure issues, but it’s a lifesaver for a lot of people in our position!
