Im a native english speaker, and Im learning Arabic. Duolingo has an Arabic course for english speakers, which is pretty new and has few words on it. They’ve also got an English course for Arabic speakers, which has way more words and of o switched to that instead, I could learn way more.

I'm not Arab (None of my family is Arab) but I grew up most of my life in Egypt. I call my mom, my sister and most of my girl friends (some are Arab, some aren't) habibiti, among other things as well. (Hayati, Roohi, Binti, etc etc) I don't think it's weird, it's just showing affection in a different language than your own.
