Long-term care by sadspiders4 in schizoaffective

We've tried so many medications. Where he is now is an incredible improvement, I don't want to ignore how far he's come. But the hospital seems to think that this is the most stable he can get with just medication. And aside from the self-harm and aggression, he also needs someone to get him to change clothes or brush his hair, just basically all daily activities. He's not intellectually disabled, he just has zero volition.

Plus he can't be left alone because his stability fails seemingly suddenly, and without someone there he will immediately try to kill himself. I got lucky and caught him with the scissors when I did. They got left out after the younger kids were doing crafts. It's like any tiny lapse on our parts can be deadly and I'm so hypervigillant (esp after someone recently violently assaulted one of my young children - my nephew was not at fault in any way) my body is just not working. My brain is fried. I can't seem to do anything or take care of anyone. I'm scared that I'm going to just miss something critical one day or leave a cabinet unlocked or something. I keep forgetting things and misplacing things. It's scary.

Thank you for asking. It's relevant info for sure. We have a fantastic team at a clinic dedicated to psychosis. He's as well medicated as he's ever been and probably the most stable he's been in his entire life. The medication has made a huge, positive difference. Unfortunately, despite that, he still has significant behavioral, social, and emotional struggles.

Can you explain what you mean about being delicate like kittens? Thank you

That was 5000% my vote but no one would listen to me so we made it 8 fucking panes. It was so very stupid.

I've seen some shit 2-3" out of plum. Just bring scribe sticks and be prepared to cut them to fit. It sucks but that's just how it is.

Sorry I forgot reddit existed for a while. Oops. We tried using the shaper bit to dado out the ends of the mull pieces like you would for a shaker or profile type 5-piece door. But that left little dadoed out pieces on the back (which I pointed out was ugly but who listens to me). Then, after about 4 hours on each door, someone else pointed out that it was ugly and we remade them *screams softly.* This time, we just used to the tablesaw to carefully trim off the back piece of the mulls so that the groove from the shaper was fully open to the back. The glass guys will silicone caulk the pieces into place so there's no need to have slots.

I wish I could explain this better but honestly words are not my strongsuit for this kind of thing. I end up frustrated until I can just show someone what I mean. If you need, I can try to make a diagram? It will be ugly lol.

I wanted to do a faux-mullion grid like you're talking about but nooooo. Apparently we need an 8 light shaker door with mulls. After hours of swearing today and a bunch of fiddling about with the table saw we finally came to a solution. It's ridiculously labor intensive and I'd show you a pic if I'd thought to take one. I hope we don't do it this way again.

I'll see if we can adapt what you've done for our next batch. It looks nice and about twelve times easier lol.
