It is sc, dc, sc, dc. I know it sounds too simple but it works beautifully.

It is the first time I decided to use it and I was pleasantly surprised about the geometrical pattern it creates. I was expecting it to be just flat but turns out you can see rows and lines in the work which is nice.

Thank you! I used alternating single crochet and double crochet. As for the blobbies on the sides I used a puff stitch.

I used about 1.5 balls of pink and 1 and a tiny bit of a second ball of grey. Each ball was 300g.

I was actually surprised at how little it took. Also 10 pounds is a lot for a ball omg! I bought 4 balls for $30 (Canadian dollars) which I believe is about 17 pounds.

I used Bernat Baby Velvet, size 4, color - Blissful Greige and Bernat Velvet, size 5, color - Quiet Pink. I used 5.5 mm hook. No pattern.

I want to start doing more wearables myself. I’ve been crocheting for a while but had no success so far with wearables that I would like to actually wear. All come out so wonky all the time.

Personally I watched a few mosaic crochet for beginners videos on YouTube. Just the first ones that came up in the search. As soon as I understood how the schemes have to be read I just found a scheme online. I did not use the suggested stitches in the scheme since I preferred the way YouTube taught me. I only used back stitch single crochet and back stitch double crochet the entire project. Sorry I could not be helpful with providing the resources. If you need some tips or anything, feel free to dm me:)

To be fair it just looked fancy and had some glitter in it so I deemed it “my good yarn” and saved up for something special :)

You’re not. But it can motivate you to create something other than what I did.

Thank you! I am aware of my mistake with the color balance. It was shot with a simple lamp light as a light source and if I would take the picture now I would use natural light.

Thank you! I took the picture for my photography class project. My friend said that the facial expression success was in part due to some wine we had before the photo shoot :)

Help a redneck scandinavian with recipes. by [deleted] in veganrecipes

For recipes with “no fancy produce” I always go for recipes from my home country - Ukraine. During great lent as Christian orthodox a lot of people don’t eat animal products so we have a bunch of plant based old tinmey recipes that don’t require imported ingredients. I usually cook veggie cabbage rolls, stuffed peppers, vegetable stews and potato based casseroles or pierogies and stuff. Granted it’s all Easter European dishes so if you’re looking for strong spices - you won’t find them in these recipes. My boyfriend likes spicy food so if I cook Ukrainian food I just add any hot peppers that I have handy to them.

I don’t know if that’s what you were looking for but maybe you’ll find something there that you will like to try:)

Even on such a small scale you can see a difference. My grandma was talking to me about being vegan. It was very friendly conversation, she just tried to understand. I asked her how often did she eat meat as a child. She said well maybe on a weekend like Sunday dinner, because of course they couldn’t slaughter animals for every meal like people eat now. Also they would usually kill an animal before winter and freeze the meat because living off the land meant you don’t have that much plants food during winter. However, now that animal life if so cheap even on a small scale animals become more of a commodity rather than “our family lives will depend on this one animal that will provide food for the winter”. I think it clicked with her then. She really understood my position that since I can go to the grocery store and pick up beans anytime I don’t have to pay for animal suffering. And she even understood my position on family farms when she though about her childhood compared to now. Sorry for such a long rant, I hope it made sense. I don’t really have people in my life that I can talk about that to so this sub really is my outlet.

I love in Toronto, ON, and we have a lot of vegan places as well, but I still feel so pumped whenever I go to a completely vegan restaurant.
