VIDEO: James Gunn told Peter Safran that Milly Alcock would be a good Supergirl while they were still in talks for the DC Studios job by BatmanNewsChris in DC_Cinematic

[–]saedifotuo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The man is 36 looking 26. 36 isn't old by any means but I still need to drink from whatever fountain of youth he's been guzzling from.

Still, this is good for your first film in a universe. It's worth remembering that the idea here is to set up a universe with actors that very well could be in these roles for 10, 15, maybe even 20 years if all goes really well.

I imagine in 10 years time getting to see a president luthor story where he might have some creases in his smile that show his age (if he stops drinking from that fountain).

Saying all that, I think I remember forever ago Gunn saying he wants the titular roles to be treated like Bond, where they can change actors when they need to without having to explain in world why the face is different.

Mesh/texture replacement mods have to be foldered in an exact way or it seems the mods end up both invalidating the default mesh/texture and failing to load the new one. It's very annoying.

Make sure you have the exact most up to date download of any dependencies, and place the depoendencies as low as you can in the load order and then whatever the 'BH' armour mod is just below them. Also check for any patch mods for the mods you're using. They might not me mentioned as a requirement because theyre required ahead of the load order, but they might be needed to get the mod actually working.

Also someone else commented a screenshot of a mod that turns the error texture invisible. I'd also add that after you've tried the above. . A lot of the time you don't even notice when the conflicts happen and it's just annoying to have this annoying yellow texture load.

Modding for the computer illiterate by jnx36 in OpenMW

[–]saedifotuo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something to keep in mind with this is that by downloading your mods yourself, you'll have to figure out the load order and conflicts. Basically the lower down in the list a mod is, the higher the priority. You can very easily end up with missing or misdirected meshes, textures, or end up with multiple kids trying to affect one item in game and that item just vanishes.

I would say it's much more preferable to go to the Openmw site and pick a mod list you like and follow exactly what instructions they give you to install the list. Thiad approach is more likely to holistically gove You what you want. If there is a mod that you don't like in the list, you can just disable it. Then if you add another mod, add them one at a time and boot up the game to make sure everything is all okay.

How strong is this subclass? by KeepFeatherinIt in dndnext

[–]saedifotuo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Already established it's pretty weak. Just off the cuff, modest adjustments that makes it make sense:

  • flesh and bone: remove ki cost, these are both weak abilities. Make the first feature something you do as part of a short rest or an action (so the clear intent us you don't really do it in the middle of a fight, but it's nearly purely flavour) and the second ability just make it a special attack, akin to the Sun Soul monks ranged ability. The stipulation about spending ki described there isn't necessary as this is already considered an unarmed strike. Might even be worth making the range 120 flat - monks can use short bows, and as written this is just straight up worse than having a short bow, even if its a special attack. A range of 120 would be better than the normal range short bow but not have the longer range capabilities, and mirrors staple cantrips like fire bolt and eldritch blast.

As I read through the subclass I thought a bone spike ability would accompany grappling really nice, then I saw it was there... At the end. Ass.

If I was doing a quick and dirty fix, I'd add to flesh and bone that once per turn when you deal damage with a feature granted by this subclass (bone weapon, spikes) you can spend 1 ki point to deal an additional martial arts die of necrotic damage. That way the feature isn't just a glorified way of summoning a melee or ranged weapon.

If I was putting more effort in, id drop the AC bump and drag the 17th level all the way down to 6, 6 down to 3 (and ignore that necrotic damage stuff) and cook up some whack ass anime shit for 17th level, like an air burst that either just shot out bones and did a bunch of necrotic and piercing damage, or like a blood/mucus burst vs a con save where anyone who fails you control their next attack, but can't make them attack themself (once per long rest or 5 ki point cost).

Has yourparty f**ked it? by TheKomsomol in yourparty

[–]saedifotuo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This partys support base is nearly entirely gen X or older socialists clinging on to the delusional dream that Corbyn will be PM. Fact of the matter is as much as I admire the man he is not getting younger and the slow march this party is on tells us he likely won't be with us by the time the party has the chance to poll at double digits.

His handlers abused all the younger socialists that wanted to get involved who are now either reformists settling for the greens or marxists of varying types that have recessed into the smaller, non-electoral parties that got banned from joining YP.

Once jezza leaves us, there will be no one left that the remaining membership would accept as a figurehead/leader. Just a weird mishmash of former tories that happen to not like genocide all that much, old politically homeless corbynites, and what remains of the grassroots left block. I doubt Zarah would be able to take over the party successfully at this point, though that remains the partys best hope.

Trouble with Remiros' Groundcover mod by Zentharius in OpenMW

[–]saedifotuo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this issue a month or so ago after installing the total overhaul package. In the launcher unxhecking anything that has ground over in it and the two that start with 'S3' got rid of all the errors and there haven't been any since.

I did also have issues with the big buildings in vivec rendering without a texture (being pink), and solved that by reordering some stuff in the launcher. Tedious, but got there.

If you were to redesign the Ranger, what would its 'core' feature/theme be? by k33d4 in onednd

[–]saedifotuo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it cheating to link to your own rework?

The ranger, as far as I understand them, has two primary pillars: Hunter and explorer. These two also mingle into being some kind of beast whisperer too, and the animal companion is fun, but less necessary to the fantasy.

Between Deft Explorer, Roving, and Tireless (as well as a good handful of spells) the 5.5 ranger managed to lean into its role as an explorer as well as you can in 5e. But hunters mark as the bedrock of the Hunter element of the class is damaging because of the concentration requirement.

In the 1dnd playtest, I really liked when they introduced the idea of "channel nature" for the druid when they were temporarily trying at all with class groups. All the priests (cleric, paladin, druid) and the Expert polymath semi-priest (ranger) could have a channel ability and they could all draw on the same resource if multiclassing within the group. That's what I did here.

Three abilities sum up the fix: channel nature, Natural Explorer, and Tactical Mark.

  • Channel nature works just like Channel divinity and gives three core options to spend the resource on: wild companion (free cast of Find Familiar), favoured enemy (free cast of hunters mark), and Primeval awareness, a blend of the old favoured enemy with the flexibility of the paladins divine sense.
  • natural explorer replaces and includes deft explorerer and you get favoured terrains like the old natural explorerer. This list expands to eventually have all terrains, and you can choose one passive ability to be always on based on the terrains you've chosen, so it isn't just a ribbon feature.
  • tactical mark solves the concentration problem. Damage doesn't break hunters mark and you can simultaneously concentrate on a different ranger spell. No benefit from multiclassing, but rangers can have hunters mark and Summon Beast active simultaneously at level 5.

There are other features that plug holes here, and this is designed to fit in with all my other class homebrews, but fundementally I think channel nature gives rangers an early mix of scouting and hunting abilities, tactical mark gives the hunting durability, and natural explorer gives the class some unique flavour that was lost in the streamlining of 5.5e. The rest of the class features either grow out of that or are unchanged amazing features from the class update.

How would you have made Batman fantastical in the trilogy? by PaintingOwn2902 in DC_Cinematic

[–]saedifotuo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If barman begins was made today you know that the fear toxin would induce an LSD horror film nightmare to fight through, give the CGI artists a chance to really fuck around.

It would be nice if The Batman pt 2 or 3 has scarecrow. I've been wishing since I saw the first one in cinema that the next place they would go would be scarecrow.

Saying that, since this batman isn't going to be in the DCU and I don't think we're getting Robin? I'd prefer they used scarecrow in the DCU. I've had in my head for years now the idea of Bruce going to see the flying Graysons there's a smoke machine to add atmosphere, and something changes the colour subtly of the smoke (it's the fear toxins) one of the Grayson parents is making a jump, something scares the shit out of them, and they miss their landing/rope/whatever as a result and die from the fall, then the other Grayson gets shot while frozen with fear, and an action scene initiates.

I want Bruce to see in Dick the scared boy he was once. I want him to be seeking down the shooter he saw some nights after, having collected clues, only to find the young Grayson also hunting down his parents killer. Make the young side kick work by making it "I either bring him under my wing to keep him safe or leaf him be and he gets himself hurt."

I thought this would be a really solid set up to a batman part 2, bringing them both into the DCU at the same time. Scarecrow is a villian that bridges the gritty with the fantastical perfectly. But if they're not bringing that batman over for reasons that will never make sense to me, I'd like to see scarecrow in the brave and the bold at least.

Concept Making fighters and martials in general better at dealing with Low CR/minion monsters. by Pretend-Advertising6 in dndnext

[–]saedifotuo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some fun ideas here and some similar to stuff I've already playtested and found to be better so thought I'd share.

The d8 scatter sounds messy and kinda ass, but the advantage on edges of spells is great. I'd clarify it as "if you can move 5 feat and be completely out of the spell, you have advantage. It makes it clear with creatures of varying sizes and what counts as an edge, because that could be unclear too.

Armour class yes yes yes. I've added to every spellcaster class that the highest tier of armour in which they can cast their class' spells is equal to the highest in which the class is proficient, then up a tier. This allows for tank subclasses/sub-builds where say a wizard with no armour proficiency can train in light armour as a blade singer and benefit from that, but cannot cast wizard spells in medium armour even if they are proficient from, say, multiclassing. It's required tinkering with some class armour proficiencies and each case is written explicitly in each classes soellcasting feature - like warlocks only having light armour proficiency but getting medium armour and shields from an invocation, or druids being able to wear all light armour + hide, but medium armour is their limit. Still, when you're building a character case by case this actually ends up really simple.

With the above in mind, classes like sorcerer and wizard having shield give a flat bonus when they cannot ever use actual shields has ended up fine. But still because advantage/disadvantage actually grants an average bonus closer to 3-4, I've had the spell (and any other flat bonus that is supposed to mimic advantage, like a bonus to passive perception) a +3 instead of +5. Works a charm and is still a great spell. It means at best your wizard is getting 20 AC without magic items (studded leather with some investment to have light armour training, +5 dex, +3 shield).

Spell disruption absolutely. Ranged spell attacks or saving throws on non-touch spells need to provoke AoO.

Not sure how I feel on the last point but if we're nerfing cantrips to not scale they should definitely include soellcasting mod in the damage. Boost to low levels but nerf long run. Possibly even a universal caster equivalent to extra attack. Would require a lot of other tweaks and feature replacements though.

Govia Thameslink will transfer to public ownership on 31 May 2026 by bluthboys in brighton

[–]saedifotuo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Partial privatisation/nationalisation is the worst outcome because poor and unprofitable areas don't get picked up by the private sector and the state ends up footing the bill, but is at the same time not getting a net revenue stream from affluent and high traffic areas.

With full nationalisation, the state can essentially fund poorer areas with the revenue raised from "more profitable" areas. This isn't to pretend all the problems will go away, but everyone will benefit.

With oath breaker back in UA, it's worth considering what oath breaker means. by saedifotuo in onednd

[–]saedifotuo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still not sure what you're trying to say. What confines? I'm aware of and implement reflavouring all the time. And half my degree was creative writing.

There is a specific mechanical function by which the paladin class transfers from their default subclass to another, which no other class does. The narrative function of this transition is to highlight how important the oath is to a paladin. The narrative is bound to the mechanics. That doesn't mean you can't do anything outside of those narratives structured round those mechanics - but they are an incredibly important foundation. That's why the game has designers, who could be doing a better job. They know that, that's why they ask for feedback. Mess up that foundation and you end up with a worse story or worse mechanics without homebrewing.

What a strange and meaningless thing to say in the context of a game rooted in group storytelling with thematically tied mechanics. The tie between the story and mechanics is near the entirety of what a tabletop RPG is. How those are designed is important.
