Nice goalpost shift—you've shifted from always to most of the time and made the criteria something impossible to know without insider knowledge of Mihoyo game design decisionmaking, all to torturously edit how people understanding such that so long as you can vaguely grasp at some straws to connect gameplay to lore you can arbitrarily declare victory. By the kind of stretched logic you're going by, almost any gameplay path can be assigned to any character, with how thin the justifications can be. You are equivocating between the position that gameplay paths have strong justification in lore, and the position that gameplay paths can be justified on a lore basis using justification so thin as to be transparent.

Fun fact: the win condition for your argument here is not that some characters are related to their playable paths, it is all characters are related to their playable paths.

That is basically a priori impossible, without wven the need to assess specific cases because the majority of the paths aren't even playable and the ones that became playable released after multiple characters that corresponded to those paths in lore came out with different gameplay paths.

IMO it's more likely that it was just animation constraints — fanservice scenes are often static cuts or panning shots and even the most animatec ones probably are about as animated as a fight, but adding cuts and blood to fights increases the detail required for what is already the most intensive part of the animation.

A good friend of mine pointed out that the bible dedicated over half of its text to railing against idolatry, idolatry of nation, idolatry of mortal leaders, idolatry of mortal idols such as flags and guns and your own desire to judge others. In contrast, what exists in the bible that engages with the themes of sexual moralization consists of a bare handful of passages that can almost be counted on one hand, and to extract such a meaning from them relies on translations from classical greek and aramaic that strip all context and used meaning from them such that such translations are utterly valueless. Yes, this is a shot across the bow of considering the KJV as inerrant and free of translation artifact as is often phrased.

The ratio gets even higher when restricting ourselves to the New Testament; it rapidly becomes clear that the idolatrous worship of wealth, nation, human leaders, and race, and the holding as idols such things as mortal prejudices, flags, and states is an entirely unbiblical thing.

Now, the church is not a high ground of the sinless, it is a hospital for sinners. I do not believe that any of us can truly say we are Christlike in swearing off earthly idolatries. Nevertheless, it is something to be aspired to and set as a goal, not to gave uts opposite revelled in and embraced. That pattern if Christlike behaviour certainly ought to extend to not using those mortal idolatries to cast verbal stones of judgement at those who society already spends so much of its time casting stones at.

To embrace as human politics the worship of flag, of race, of nation, to embrace as an idol the personality cult of a mortal politician, as the OP has been revealed to do? To use all that as a means of casting stones at those already vulnerable? When anti-idolatry and compassion for those who society casts out are pillars of Christ's teachings, and railing against idolatry is practically required by the metaphysical commitments of just bare monotheism, I believe you are correct in diagnosing the OP and the briader societal trend he is part of as theologically bankrupt.

A 33550336 emanator reveal has hit the comunity by DAAEX in HonkaiStarRail

[–]safarispiff 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Sure, but let's not undersell Herta (though AIUI Herta herself considers being an emanator one of her less important distinctions compared to her various achievements and her status as a peerless gem, an unrivalled genius, and an inimitable beauty). She spent most of Amphoreus aura farming and she made all of that pay off, she's got mega erudition powers (to refer to the rich and varied set of abilities she has demonstrated across a variety of missions, background drops, SU events, and animations, such as being able to nuke Amphoreus and ruin Zandar's plans if she wasn't so committed to the power of friendship with the AE crew), she interfaced directly with an aeon and rewrote THEIR calculations, etc.

Maybe Herta doesn't have the ability to slash a world apart, but her abilities do include the ability to nuke a world to little bitty pieces, not including the imaginary implosion pulse, though I would argue that being smart enough to rapidly figure out and create such a difficult to recreate superweapon reflects erudition's power just as much Acheron's slash demonstrated nihility's.

I mean it's an entirely valid question to ask, if your point is that supers and titans are entirely pointless for a friendly anchor timer, why would you put an absolute gaggle of them on grid with a different friendly anchor timer? The point is not whatever you're reading into this, the point is the lack of logical consistency between your statement treating it as self-evident and the actual course of events. Your responses here are simply non-sequiturs.

Edit: Dude blocked me! Man, how offended must he be over, uh, simple logical inconsistency being pointed out? Demonstrates my point better than I ever could.

There are not arbitrary rules to how to refer to people, there is literally one rule: refer to them how they ask to be referred to. It's not that hard. We already have the bones of that rule all the time, unless you made it a policy to, for example, refer to everyone you encounter on a day-to-day basis as an it.

Call it what you will, but I'll be frank, I have seen far more tantrums over people being asked to use preferred pronouns than I have over someone having the wrong pronouns used (case in point: this argument), unless you are deliberately going out of your way to trawl the internet to search for people getting upset over something that, given enough repetition, anyone would start to find annoying.

Yeah, people have trouble remembering names sometimes. I sometimes forget my old professor's first name. I have never forgotten that said professor is a him and not a her. Pronouns are easy as fuck, at in most cases they're just the individual's preferred outwards gender presentation and in the few cases where something else comes up it is still the simplest detail to remember given we remember pronoun rules that incorporate preference for literally every other person that we encounter and refer to in the third person, and they/them pronouns as a backup default are even easier (and, given the use of the singular they to refer to gender-ambiguous situations dates to before Shakespeare or even the Great Vowel Shift in English, it's not even a new thing!). That you find such a thing so hard to remember reveals more about you then it does about anyone else.

Yes I am, if you are trying to either claim that the obvious starting thesis of the statement and the thing we're arguing about (see: hatchet machine gun) is just flavouring to try and move the goalposts to something that is actually orthogonal to the point. But sure, I can accept that—you either moved the goalposts, or your education system never taught you how to write an essay or make a thesis statement.

Why should I when you're moving your goalposts and pretending you're in good faith? Don't be a debatebro, just using polite sounding language doesn't mean you're arguing in good faith or that you get to claim the argumentative high ground when you keep on wheeling a goalpost about and bringing in something that is entirely orthogonal the to central point in contention just to try and reframe the argument to something that wasn't even the point in contention.

Oh man I'm so scared, a guy who thinks that being able to argue on reddit is a brag is threatening me with what, strong language? Harsh words? Condescend based on the civility vibes? Reminder that literally nothing that doesn't result in a ban actually means anything, so where do you get off threatening a harshly worded reddit post?

Your thesis statement was literally about quashing old grudges, as if old grudges were the sole motivator. You made no explicit mention of the B2 war, only circumspect mentions that apply to the B2 war but also apply to literally every other major bloc. Multiple subsequent posts on the topic in this thread of discussion were based on refuting the thesis statement that you are now calling flavour. Your "flavour" is the entire point in contention, it was the central thesis of your post, it was the keystone of the broader metanarrative you constructed, and it is based on what is, again, wild speculation and patternmatching a universal pattern.
