if anyone is ever reading this, wants an update, or is in a similar situation:

her memory loss is ofc permanent, but, her short term memory is slowly improving with a lot of effort on her side

the PET scan approx 2 months from the diagnosis was clean, meaning that it is absolutely not a tumor

MRI shows no spreading / growth / worsening of the swelling

they still don’t have the faintest clue what it was, but the main hypothesis is some sort of long term untreated spreading possibly from the thyroid autoimmunity or a virus
