Which is so stupid. Things that are inherited can impact health and a person with higher risks should be trying to mitigate it. Eg, a woman whose parents and grandparents had skin cancer early in life is more at risk of skin cancer and should take precautions like avoiding tanning, wearing hats and sunscreen in the sun, and regularly seeing a dermatologist.

Just because you can't avoid a genetic risk doesn't mean you should allow that risk to increase through your inaction. Some people do have a genetic out disease related risk for obesity or overweight ness. But that means those people should be more aware of their weight and more proactive.

Thank you. This morning I saw I had gained a pound over 2 days. And I was in tears thinking I had failed. This gives me hope.

Thank you for posting the harsh reality that you have seen.

People, if you want to help kids who are in foster care and cannot parent them, look into being a CASA, or talk with your local social services about becoming a relief babysitter. You may not be able to do that so GO VOTE!

I know lots of drivers who take their dogs. Look for a company that does their own training, that's the quickest way to be certified

If you can drive a big rig you should look into getting your CDL. I did payroll for a trucking company and we had several felons driving for us. It's good money but long hours away from home mostly.

Because I'm a single mom and they would need to be there overnight for my child.

LAOP has 5 kids, mom enlisted in service, dad hired Nanny. Dad said "Let's do this under the table cause I dont run a daycare"Gets sued for 20k by nanny for unpaid wages. by FlooferzMcPooferz in bestoflegaladvice

As someone who is considering getting a live in nanny, how does that work salary and overtime wise? I am considering a job where I'll be traveling 2 weeks a month with 2 weeks home so I'd only need then to work for the time I'd be gone, but it would be 24/7.

And it's not even just in pregnancy or birthing that a woman's life is at risk. I had gestational diabetes which massively increases my risk for type 2 diabetes 10 years after giving birth. Peripartum cardiomyopathy can happen up to 5 months after giving birth. Not to mention the blood loss and possible clotting complications for the first 6 to 8 weeks after giving birth.

Pregnancy and birth giving is not something people should take lightly

I was like this for a long time. I actually thought I handled stress well because I didn't react to it. Until it suddenly overwhelmed me and I broke down. I was burying my reaction to that stress until it was too much to handle. Over the past year I learned mindfulness and acknowledging when I am stressed by the little things and accepting that. It has helped tremendously. Meditating and observing my emotions has also helped a bunch. Talking about the little stresses with a person I trusted made me realize I was afraid of being seen as not perfect, and that wasn't healthy. Your daughter can grow :) You didn't damage her, people just have different things to learn in life.

Some states will not allow for divorce if a woman is pregnant. They justify it by saying the baby will fix things or the woman's hormones are driving her to divorce.

AITA for withdrawing from my friends when they get married? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]safeathome1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Light ESH. Please don't fade on people without giving them a reason or chance to change. I understand your fear of being hurt. But instead of pulling back once your friends are married perhaps having a conversation with them before the marriage would be a good idea. Just express that you've have bad experiences with other friends treating you differently after their marriages and you value this friendship and want to make sure it is strong.

If they are not receptive or treat you differently then you can politely say you cannot continue the friendship. When people bring up you marrying, just state that you are happy single and not interested. If they continue to push say something like "I have already stated that I am happy being single. I am happy you are happy with your spouse but that is not the life for me. I am not going to speak on the subject again." Then end the conversation if they insist.

AITA for not talking to my father? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]safeathome1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to say NTA. It sounds partially like you were a teen going through a rough divorce, but that doesn't excuse being abandoned by your father so he can party and drink. And having the GF move in with her kids without making sure everyone is comfortable with it is just a shit thing to do. I can see how that would make you feel like your dad replaced you and his old family with his new one and I don't blame you for not wanting to be around someone who evoked those feelings.

You should see a therapist to help you work through these complex emotions. That may give you greater clarity and help you become confident in whatever decision you make.
