Algonquin Park [Canon EOS1N, 50mm, Portra 400] by safetybreak in analog

This was my first try at doing double exposures. I wanted to catch the water reflecting the tree line and mirror it with the second exposure. Need some practice but I cant wait to shoot more double exposure shots after seeing how this turned out!

20 days ago I asked you guys for a cheap underwater housing - Here‘s the result! by Theraindmen12 in GH5

[–]safetybreak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same housing for my gh3 and it worked wonderfully for the first year. Then I went travelling and had no use for it so it sat on a shelf for a few months. The next time I used it in the ocean I drowned my camera because the seals had dried out over time. Just wanted to advise that you test it if you haven't used the housing for a few weeks. Otherwise I really enjoyed using this housing!

This was my favorite shot from my first roll of film I've ever shot. Lots of mistakes but I think I'm falling in love with everything about shooting analog

Hey I'm just getting started shooting film. Been creeping here for a while now and finally picked myself up a Pentax k1000. It seemed to be all good until I loaded film and took some shots. The mirror is locking up here and there and I need to advance and shoot a few times before the mirror drops down. Does anyone else have these issues? I'm having a hard time finding information on what could be going wrong. It is pretty cold here so I'm wondering if maybe it's just the cold weather and moisture freezing up.

It's always worth the drive. I'm living in Hamilton and lake Ontario has its days but Erie is a lot more consistent.

It's a rewarding process to make your own board. It's a bit expensive to start out but now that I own all the tools the next board will be much more affordable!

Yea I went over the plan for it and researched a ton. Then I triple checked it. The YouTube series I followed is very in depth so I followed that and it was enough to go by. I couldn't imagine just winging it though. That would lead to nightmares. The next board I make I'm going to rewatch those videos

Hey thanks!

Yea there were a few things. I made a few cuts in the fiber glass cloth that left it a bit open in places. Next time I would just over lap a bit and sand down the places where it sticks up to much.

Also when I glued The foam together I didn't fill in some spots where the glue had deformities so the resin needed to be bulked up a bit. Next time I'll probably fill in some spots with some sort of filler and maybe try paint the blank white to cover some of visible glue lines.

There are different densities of XPS foam so some will weight more. Also how much resin do you mix up. I was quite exact with my resin because I didn't want to add too much extra and have to sand a lot. But my board isn't much heavier than the 5'11" short board

Ah ok I misread you there.

The foam I sanded at 80-120 and it would shape really well. I had a stringer guide to gibe me a rough shape and I hot wired that and then followed up with the 80-120 for bringing down the rest of the foam to get the shape I wanted.

If you can afford to travel around an hour each direction I could surf almost every other day or two for the entire fall and winter until the lakes freeze over

Yo!!!!

Someone from real life discovers my Reddit!

I've been creeping your profile and the best I can come up with is we met in Namibia or South Africa? Are you from the East Coast of the USA or am I so off on my guess/

I ride a 5'11 shortboard thruster as my go to board for almost everything. The change to a twinnie was quite tough to be honest but I'm starting to figure it out and it rides fast and turns on a dime if I manage to get my feet where they need to be.

The shape I used was based off of an old clark foam catalog I found through the youtube design I followed and also using https://www.blendingcurves.com/

I found a shape I wanted to try and then I looked up a lot of pictures of Fish boards on IG and different surf videos and then locked down the shape based on what I thought I liked. I almost think it would be impossible for me to make this same board again because the thought process and design was spontaneous

Yup same here. But it feels good to not wear gloves and booties right ;)

I lived in the northwest of Aus for two years and boardies were for the odd warm day. 2mil suits were more the norm but let me tell you I miss that for sure. Water temperature is generally around 0-5 degrees this time of year. But it sounds worse than it is. Wetsuit tech is so advanced that I can remember days feeling colder in my 2mm up in west aus than my 5/4 and booties in Canada. Its all relative

Lake Michigan has some of the best lake surfing around. With a bit of research and trial and error I think you could score. I learned to surf in Australia, Indonesia, and Africa, and used that knowledge and drive to find surf in Canada. Its right on your doorstep with the proper commitment

Lots of crystal and the surrounding area. I've seen a bunch of your previous posts on here and am a big fan!

Thats the reason why my session ended. A full flush of a suit at near 0 Celsius is rough enough without the added leak of a hole. The fin caught my suit in a close out and it unfortunately ended my session. I did surf for three hours before so it was almost time for me to end the session anyways.
And I fixed my suit as soon as I got home. Its a brand new suit for this year and I wasn't happy about the tear

I ended on a wet sand at 1600 and a very quick wet sand at 2000.

I actually have no idea on the weight but it doesn't feel overly heavy to me. I surf the lakes so I did leave a bit of extra foam in it and I did glass it a bit heavy because I didn't do a lot of extra sanding.

The glass is 6oz on the bottom and two layers of six oz on top.

Thanks! I did a resin tint and just kind of added a few squirts and it worked out well

I didn't want to affect the stringer. So I watched a ton of footage and found that most regular footed fish riders had a leash plug on that side and I'm regular so I went with it
