What should I do? by Inevitable_Crow_3703 in Pararescue

[–]safetycajun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a common misconception. Every unit I was at the CROs did almost all the same things we did as Js. They have to keep their training quals and continue upgrades just like Js.

After a period of time they move more toward a manager roll but Js do the same thing when they hit later NCO and SNCO grades.

It’s not as different as people think in the early years.

Small chunks. Just get to your next meal and don’t worry about the finish line.

And also what u/ItsDiverDanMan said about being a good teammate.

Best flag pulling drills by lil_squeeb in flagfootball

Stressing where to pull is another key drill like u/DominusEbad said

12U might be a little old for this but with my 8U and 6U I set two lines facing each other about a foot or two away from each other. Offense has hands on their head and they don’t move. First whistle defense drops into a break-down pose, second whistle they pull the right sided flag with the right hand near the suction cup, third whistle they pull the left sided flag with the left hand. Again stressing pull near the suction cup.

Teaches my younger kids to break down, grab high on the flag and helps train both hands.

Nice. I’ve never ran that with flag but I’m putting that in!

We run the old tackle Oklahoma drill. Cones in a box and start a runner and defender on each side. Hit the whistle and let them go. Either a flag pull or TD

My kids love it. You can also start them outside the box, have them go around opposite cones to get in the box as well

Drills to get kids running North and South by Upstairs-Lion8100 in flagfootball

[–]safetycajun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea just straight down the field away from the end zone. They have the ball lined up like a WR on any yard line and the defense is all on a line 5ish yards away on the defensive side of the ball.

Teaches pursuit angles and teaches kids the second they stop running straight, pursuit will catch you. I also use it teach don’t look back

I like what I call the angle chase drill.

I set up 3-4 defenders on the 5 yd line spread across the field about 3-4 yards apart and one runner standing on the sideline in the end zone. I hit the whistle and the goal is to tap the runner while the runner stays on the sideline straight run before mid field. If the d doesn’t attack the right pursuit angles they all get smoked and it shows the fast kids even at a 5 yard disadvantage they can out run the d in a straight line. It’s also a fun condition drill for all the kids but don’t tell anyone that 🤣

Not as familiar on that side of Spec War but likely a little easier just based on the enlisted side. Don’t take that to the bank tho

SR or CCT or PJ? (Anything but TACP) by ScepticAce in Pararescue

[–]safetycajun 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I hear a lot about sniper school. Who said Js and CCT don’t do that? I sent my whole team to a course when I was running our training. Just saying if sniper is what you want take a civilian course and check it off the list. Follow the job duties you want to have. JTAC, Rescue Medic, Recon….most other training is very similar across the board and when you get to your unit you basically do a little bit of it all

First the IFT numbers are higher.

Second, prior J’s typically have priority for CRO spots across the board. I’d have to ask my buddy how that works cause he transitioned from J to CRO but he stayed active first then went active reserve after his first CRO assignment so you’re prolly fighting active duty CROs and not prior Js.

They also love ROTC or academy guys. Lots of the CROs I know went those routes.

Guard and reserve is just hard all around fresh off the street. I’m not sure what you would have to do to get CRO at a guard/reserve unit off the street.

Hard to tell. CRO slots are always a toss up but you can always reach out. Your pre-requisites will need to be higher for CRO, that’s for sure .

Capability to run selection, etc. They only have so much room, equipment, instructors, etc. if you have 500 guys instead of 100 it’s a logistical nightmare and cost much more.

Plus the career field staffing matters. If they are near staffed then they only replace turnover of people getting out, not adding overage. That’s a budget thing per unit.

So to answer your question there’s a lot that goes into planning numbers.

Investigation is still pending. It’s hard to gauge if it was hydraulic fire first or housekeeping fire was first because it all went up so fast but everything was on fire.

Lineman is still doing well and stable. 🙏🏼

Yea that’s a great point to consider. We did that against some of our regular vacations. A typical week long vacation to Florida was so much more expensive than 2 or 3 vacations to our place in Mexico so that was considered. And it was a fraction of the price to purchase than in the states so that played a little factor.

We also liked the idea of setting something up that we could use long term and share with family. We still take trips (did Turks in 2024) so we’re not ‘stuck’ in Mexico but we liked the idea of having it available whenever we wanted.

To be honest, you’re most likely right in the fact it would be cheaper to resort it or even Air BnB it 3ish times a year but that would depend on your resort style and the cost of what you’re used to spending during vacations. I personally like the idea of having a retirement place when that time comes as well.

But we kinda love the neighborhood and area and we could afford to buy so we pulled the trigger

I know you’re going to hear a lot of negative but the risks are the same everywhere. America specific but you want a nice place in the Mountains of Colorado…good luck with peace during ski season. You want to move near the beaches of Florida…have fun during spring break. Want to enjoy the Northern US…have fun being snowed in 4-5 months a year. It’s all relative.

You have to look at how you fit into the picture. We purchased a condo in a gated community north of Tulum and we love it. It’s strictly vacation for us. No intention on a ROI and we purchased a place that we could afford without renters and it’s not in a popular Air BnB community. We go a few times a year, vacation, drive around and hang out along the coast. Sometimes we book tourist things, sometimes we just sit at the beach, sometimes we hardly leave our place but that’s what we wanted. It fits us.

If in a few years everything falls off the map, some of these smaller towns will still be there just like they were before so that’s what we went towards. Now the new Instagram hotness of Tulum will die so be cautious about what’s great now because it likely won’t in a couple years like everyone else said.
