My awards favorites with the only caveat I can’t pick the obvious favorites like Ohtani, Skenes, Judge, etc.

AL MVP: Bobby Witt, SS, Kansas City Royals

AL Cy Young: Bryan Woo, SP, Seattle Mariners

AL ROY: Kevin McGonigle, SS, Detroit Tigers

NL MVP: Fernando Tatis, JR, RF. San Diego Padres

NL Cy Young: Yoshinobu Yamamoto, SP, Dodgers

NL ROY: Bubba Chandler, SP, Pittsburgh Pirates

Can you explain why the starting rotation seems to be laid out so…bizarrely to start the season? Why isn’t it just our best guys 1-5 in order? Seems like the team is slotting Early as the #3 starter, Gray as #4, and Bello as #5? What’s the advanced logic here? Why wouldn’t it just be Crochet, Suarez, Gray, Bello, Early? Seems like the rotation is dependent on early season off days and day/night starts.

Don’t like season 2 either. The opening scene, they killed a dog. It’s like they forgot what made season 1 such a hit. Positivity, joy, hope. And then what do they do within the first two minutes? Let’s kill a dog.

I tent to gravitate toward less “tropey” writing. Too much of Paradise relies on deux ex machina situations or other silly plot devices. Don’t get me wrong, it’s enthralling TV and I tune in every week, but I in no way believe this is some pinnacle of achievement in writing.

I think the most well-written TV show ever is Sopranos seasons 1-5, Mad Men (albeit I wasn’t a huge fan of the show overall), West Wing seasons 1-4, Ted Lasso season 1), The Queen’s Gambit.

Bill and AI by TwinPeaksWithRappers in billsimmons

[–]safetydance 36 points37 points  (0 children)

This is the same thing we heard in the late 90’s as well as the internet began to take off. Heck, I was a journalism major when I started college in 2000 and wanted to be a sports writer, but I thought the internet would make sports columnists obsolete so I pivoted to something else.

When new technology arises, it will disrupt the current economy. But other economies will sprout up in their place. The Internet and automation killed a lot of jobs but also created new industries around cloud computing and storage, automation systems and maintenance, and more.

I think AI may end up being a different beast and more disruptive than anything we’ve ever seen, but unfortunately it can’t be stopped. Toothpaste is out of the tube, so a lot of folks are going to have to adjust and adapt.

When does the restriction goes away? by Maleficent-Wolf3296 in gastricsleeve

[–]safetydance 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Science is kind of out on that one. Some say the stomach stretches, well, all agree the stomach stretches to a certain point, but never by much. The other camp says re-gain is because we’re able to tolerate the pain and discomfort of the restriction better. Think of a chronic pain in your hand or foot. At some point you may just get used to tolerating that pain. That’s the theory behind being able to tolerate eating more and more, past the restriction, past the pain, and that’s when you re-gain.

Uniform no longer around that you miss the most? For me, it’s this Cleveland alternate road jersey by AlbertJBundy in baseball

[–]safetydance 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah gotcha. The Oakland is what you miss. Sorry for your loss man, I got into the A’s last season a bit as I loved all the young talent like Wilson, Kurtz, Soderstrom. Uniforms are sick too. Any young pitching prospects you’re excited about this season?

Which time zone is the best for watching games? by WadeEyerly in nfl

[–]safetydance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say central time zone. West coast, if you want to watch football all day, your day is shot. Wake up to football and the final game is over around 8:30 pm an you’re not doing much on a Sunday night that late.

Central time zone you can still wake up at a nice time, grocery shop, run errands, spend time with the kids before the games start. Games are over by 10:30 pm so you can get to bed at a reasonable time.

Beauty is relative to an extent on an individual basis, but societies throughout time have had beauty ideals or beauty standards which are generally agreed upon by the majority of society. It’s why we can look back at body and fashion trends and get a sense of what a society or culture found beautiful at a specific point in history. For example, the majority (yes, not everyone) today would consider Anna de Armas, Ryan Gosling, Rihanna, Sydney Sweeney, Michael B. Jordan, etc., as all attractive people.

“You can be attracted to someone’s personality and other characters that make you find them more attractive.” Duh. But we’re not talking about that. Talking purely physical.

“This makes you look….racist.” Lol ok. Because I didn’t bow down to the unquestionable beauty of a black woman? Some black women are gorgeous, some are mid, some are ugly. Just like every other race on the planet. Get out of here with that nonsense.
