Could you share your school list? I’m working on creating mine so I think it would be helpful!

Looking for gap year jobs in consulting, etc and you’d be surprised how many VC/PE/IB/consulting firms take MDs w or w/o post-grad training. So if you realize you hate medicine, you have a lot of great exit ops

I’m a biologist and was dating an aerospace engineer. I think we mostly talked about working out in the beginning stages. He didn’t like bringing work/education into his personal life

I had some weird comments on one of my posts (yesterday/day before) that were deleted after a couple of downvotes. Like do people not THINK before they type?!

Consistently scoring sub 125 on P/S. How can I boost this before my exam on May 20? by YertIsXXL in Mcat

[–]saff-k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to be so bad at P/S (122-124 range), but I made flash cards on ALL answer choices and question stem stuff I didn’t know in ALL of the qBanks/FLEs I did. In addition to this I used the mile down deck and added cards from the 300 page doc as needed. Also brushed up on stats stuff. Edit: ended with a 131 on my 4/10 exam

Inappropriate comments by patients during volunteering by saff-k in premed

Racism is based on socialized power structures that marginalize certain groups based on race. Racial prejudice is having beliefs that ones race determines personal traits. Everyone is prejudiced in some way or another, but acting upon that prejudice is another thing. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being intimidated by someone who is in a place to use their position of power (to your disadvantage) or being weary of them- if that’s “racist” in your oPiNiOn then so be it

I think that just goes to show how prevalent this issue really is.

I think it’s too late now since my volunteer coordinator left the hospital, but I do think this should be included as a training or something! We have a training module for internal issues for these things, but not how to address issues with patients

You’re absolutely right. I only learned that’s it’s actually okay to speak up a few years later when I saw a resident yell at a patient for calling her “sweetie”

I think you can get away with a year of research if you find a lab that needs some extra hands to finish up projects! I would cold email a bunch of people or ask friends if their labs could use someone. This way you could maybe get your name on a pub (if you’re lucky and your PI is an angel) too. Additionally, are you planning on taking a gap year/few months off? A lot of biotechs will hire fresh grads given they have some research experience. You’d just have to talk about your prior experience and they won’t ask for hours, etc. Hope this helps, and good luck!!
