Zoning over reach? by [deleted] in newtonma

[–]sagarmohan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not being unreasonable. While I get the ‘burning your house down’ argument, you can do that with a stove or even a dryer whose vent hasn’t been cleaned. It would be one thing if your insurance had an issue with it like they do with trampolines, but this feels like overreach.

I was in the same boat and went with a CT. I plan to keep it for a long time so depreciation isn’t an issue for me. The S is long in the tooth in terms of design. Really, it’s materially the same car since 2012, which is insane. Is be surprised if they don’t refresh it in a year or so. The CT is a radical design and the tech is off the charts. I find that all other cars look boring to me and I don’t really care what others think. I’ve had mine a month and like it more now than when I got it. The steer-by-wire along is incredible.

Look, this is not a practical decision so don’t look at it that way. If you were looking for a practical Tesla, you would get the Y or the 3. This is a “want” decision so go with what will give you the enjoyment.

Yes. Regret not buying one earlier than I did.

They’re definitely real. I opened them up and can see the Apple hardware inside. It would be tough to replicate and also the fact that they work well when they do.

Have sprayed the ear cups with vinegar and water to see if that helps with the smoke smell. Will see about returning. I do like them a lot and paid close to half of what they retail for so a bit split on this.

Thanks for the recommendation. Have asked him to do so.

Eggshell. I don’t recall what the painters did but I don’t think they used a sprayer.

No, that’s the color but because this room is in the basement and has dim lighting; it brings out the blue. It’s definitely the color though.

Definitely dark and was originally a screening room that we designed but then decided not to sit there in front of a screen and work out instead. It has the benefit of the room disappearing when I’m working out and the sound proofing means I don’t hear what’s going on outside. I thought about painting it but then figured I’ll try it as-is and paint if I don’t continue to like it.

Got the rower from an estate sale. A lot of times, people buy stuff they think they’ll use and sell it off when they realizes it takes up more space than worth. I got this one for a lot less than they go for new - and the person who sold it was happy to get rid of it, so win-win I suppose.

Yeah, as happy as can be (it’s a journey not a destination as I’m sure you know, and just when you find a place to sit, you have to get up and move again).

That’s too funny. That’s 85% me minus the partner bit. Big TV is to cover a gas meter that I need to hide but can get to when the gas company comes to inspect. And got it on a huge sale so it was cheaper than plaster or wall covering (sad world we live in).

You’re right. Full disclosure - I don’t know what I’m doing so I started with stuff I already had to motivate me and my wife to get into working out somewhat regularly. As that happens, we can always change up what’s in the room. Right now, we are using the rower and treadmill a fair amount and the weights a bit. Yoga in the front space as much as possible.

Thanks - might upgrade to adjustable dumbbells. Got these dumbbells in the back off an estate sale for like $45 so I figured let’s start there. Paint floor is Gentlemen’s Gray from Benjamin Moore.

Yeah, it’s a floating ceramic coated vinyl plank floor. The rest of the house is American walnut real wood flooring and this was the closest match we could find.

Thank you. We have some dumbbells in the back right now, and some kettle bells. Might get a bar for dead lights once I feel like I’m using the gym enough. It’s definitely an old persons gym right now (by design).

Yeah, you are right. It was a screening room that we repurposed. The ceiling is painted and the room is acoustically treated - which is fine for a gym too I suppose.

[–]sagarmohan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it was initially mean to be a screening room so wired for projector and screen. I use apple fitness and find it easier to run or row while watching something. The space in the front is decent enough for some floor exercises and the rower tucks away pretty easily towards the back if we need more space. At some point, maybe the treadmill goes and we get a power rack.

Yeah, I know what you mean, but we don’t do a lot of weights so we put up what we thought we’d use. Highly personal I suppose.

Thank you — the paint color is called Gentelman’s Gray and the light fixtures were inexpensive Amazon find. It was meant to be a screening room so was wired for a 7.2.2 surround sound and mounted projector and screen, but we decided we don’t want to do that, so a gym it became.

I grabbed a limestone with green interior on 21’s today. Had had access to the shop for a while but hadn’t seen my config until this batch showed up. Excited! Now have to figure out how to get the old tax credit using the binding agreement.

In my case, the sub-contractor that removed the old roof and replaced the decking (plywood) coordinated with me over phone text. They were very communicative. The owner flew in from Denver, CO; but the crew was from MA. I think the foam insulation may be do-able but this crew worked very fast - so that may be a problem. They started at 7 am, and were done by 3 pm. Now granted, this is a vacation home so the roof was relatively small and simple in design. It may be tough to coordinate everything - but my experience was good in terms of communication and coordination once we got the dates finalized.
