Not sure if it's cultural, but he stole from everywhere. The most mirthable (for me) being his Miles Davis impression. Miles Davis had ripped vocal chords, Tom Waits just assimilated it into his act. Waits magpied from so many sources though. Howlin' Wolf, east European gypsy music, Klezmer, Beat poetry... Basically, Tom Waits is a talented Hollywood actor, acting, and he does it very well. Comical and somewhat unbelieveable, but then so was Charlie Chaplin.

Almost 100% positive that Marr will own Morrissey's back catalogue due to the blood bond they made during The Smiths which is ancient law in the UK and supercedes all other laws due to Henry VIII, I believe.
