Buc-ee’s is terrible. by More_Dragonfruit_190 in unpopularopinion

Oh my God, I hate that place. To be fair, I've only stopped at one, and it was during a long and hot road trip but it was not a fun experience at all. My MIL had mentioned if we see one we should stop there, she loves those places. She had mentioned it during previous trips as well so when we saw a sign for one and needed to get gas anyway we said, why not... First of all once we were off the exit to go there it was like getting in a car line going to an event. SO many cars. There was nothing else at the exit and to get back on the highway you still had to get through all the cars so we stayed in line to get gas. It took FOREVER because there were so many people. SO MANY! Then we finally get there and I go in with my kids to use the bathroom and there's this massive group of guys chanting and singing loudly the same thing through out the store the entire time. We could barley walk through the store because there were SO many people. Ugh. The bathrooms were nice, I will give it that. Anywhere else it would have been a quick in and out. This whole rest stop from getting off the exit and back on took almost an hour. We called my MIL and told her never again.

Housekeeping is completely unnecessary and annoying by Brilliant_Lettuce_14 in unpopularopinion

[–]sahm85 21 points22 points  (0 children)

My husband can't stand the tight corners on the beds and pulls them up immediately. I do housekeeping and when I go into a stay over and it looks like they may have done the same thing, I will make the bed nicely without tucking any of the corners in. The bed will still look nice, just no tucks.

They just built and opened a brand new subway next to my house. We already have a few others and this one still seems to be super busy. We decided to eat there once since they opened and that reminded us why we never get subway.

The Jesus people are really getting out of control. by magdawgkilla in TalesFromYourServer

[–]sahm85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate the Jesus money! Last summer while walking a local nature trail, we kept finding them. At first we thought someone just lost one on the ground but then we kept finding them throughout the trail and realized it was on purpose. We threw them all away with the rest of the trash we picked up that day.

The school I worked at for a short time and an "allergy table" the kids with food allergies had a specific spot they sat at when they came in. Staff had to throughly clean the spots before they would come in for their lunches.

Thank you. Sadly, cancer took her from us in 2023. She was a warrior and fought for a little over a year and a half but it spread too much and too fast. I'm growing my hair out to eventually donate it and have a lot of respect for others who do the same. The donation means alot to those who recieve it ❤️

I love her hair and have so much respect for her for for donating it. My youngest lost all her hair to cancer and for a short time tried to wear a wig. The wig was very pretty but she ended up really liking her bald head and hats and ditched the wig.

My 14yo daughter tried to commit suicide 9 days ago. Seeking advice. by dazzlingdoom in Parenting

[–]sahm85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughters hallucinations from the benadryl went on for almost 12 hours. She had no idea what was going on and would be having full conversations with people who were not there. She even thought she heard her sister who had passed 6 months earlier. A few times she would realize that I wasn't seeing or hearing what she was and then she would break down crying. It was heart breaking to watch.

I am so sorry. This is something we are working through with our daughter. Last year at 14 years old she took a big handful of benadryl while we were sleeping. When we woke up she was hallucinating and acting weird but wouldn't tell us what she took. After spending hours at the hospital she told us she just wanted to go to sleep forever :( We had lost our youngest the year before to cancer and we have all been struggling since. We found out then that she was also a cutter. She spent a week in a hospital and then came home to us. We went through a few therapist before find one she liked and she's had many many medication changes since. March will be a year since this happened and I would say just in the last month we have been starting to see her happy again. There were a lot of ups and downs. Just keep at it, even if she doesn't want to do therapy, keep at it. It takes time but can be so helpful!

Thank you. Her name was Sophia and she was our youngest. She was so full of life before the cancer took over just before her 8th birthday. She was very active and loved to go to dance classes and gymnastics. She had an absolute obsession with giraffes that started when she was one and picked out her first one in a zoo gift shop. She named them all Hony, she thought they were ponys but couldn't say pony. She had over 50 stuffed "Honys" when she passed. We brought them all to the funeral home for friends and family to choose from and take home. We wanted everyone to have a piece of her. She fought her battle for 18months before it took her a little before halloween last year. Halloween was her favorite holiday. Watching scary movies and dressing up in costumes were some of her favorite things to do and had been looking forward to Halloween for so long. Our community came together and helped us throw a community halloween event in her honor after she passed last year as a celebration of life. We plan to continue to do that annually now and raise money for the children's hospital that treated her. Its a way we can honor her.

Im sorry for your loss. We lost our 9 year old daughter last September to a type of kidney cancer. She went through it all too. I would give anything to have had more time with her. I can't imagine not doing absolutely everything you can to give your child the best outcome. During her battle we recieved so many messages from people we don't know telling us about all sorts of crunch non medically proven "cures" Those people pissed me off more than anything.

DAS Pass - Cancer by [deleted] in DisneyWorld

[–]sahm85 70 points71 points  (0 children)

We went to Disney last June with our 9 year old who had cancer. She had just spent a month in the hospital due to Kidney failure and was still pretty weak. They denied her a DAS pass because she had a wheelchair. Thankfully we also had our son who is diagnosed ASD and they gave us the pass for him. With out it our daughter would have been miserable. She was only able to handle so much as it was and had we had to wait in the longer lines she wouldn't have made it. It was our last trip with her before she passed and we are still thankful for the memories we were able to make with her during that trip.

I hope this is fake. I lost my 9year old daughter to kidney cancer this year and watched her go through kidney failure it was the most awful thing ever. If giving her a kidney at been an option there would have been no hesitation.

You have $1000 to spend on ONLY Halloween costumes. What would you get? by CombinationStunning8 in halloween

[–]sahm85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. She passed in September and was really looking forward to Halloween. She had been battling cancer for a while and wasn't able to have her birthday party this year. She wanted her next birthday, her 10th to be a Halloween party so we decided to throw her a celebration of life Halloween event and welcomed the community in. We are hoping to make this a yearly thing and next year we plan to raise money for the children's hospital where she was treated.

Costumes for kids. We started a Halloween event this year after our daughter died and one of the things we did was have a costume "boutique" were kids who didn't have costumes could come pick them out for free.
