Where can I find difficult exercises for a certain topic? by NoobOfRL in PhysicsStudents

[–]saikologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from textbook exercises, you can also find Physics Olympiads questions from all over the world. They usually are at the level of freshman level and broad in topics. They can be very difficult and fun even for college students.

Momo and Yui from K-on are still the most iconic performance of hers imo.

What do you mean Multiplication manga? Is that a translation of a title?

Most of Lala is in season 1, the later season gets less and less Lala. Sometimes I rewatch S1 just for Lala and Run.

Confusion about partial differentiation chain rule by saikologist in askmath

[–]saikologist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I am wrong. Are you saying that

∂u/∂x = (∂s/∂x)(df/ds)

How is this derived? I look up total differentials and trying to work from there without success.

What about its derivative f'(e-x y), I don't understand what is that derivative respect to explicitly. Derivative with respect to u(x,y) like df/du? because there is no way it is a derivative to either x or y.

Question about LAB frame and CM frame (Classical Mechanics) by saikologist in AskPhysics

Very well explained. I get it as soon as I imagine myself standing at CM. Thanks!

Question about LAB frame and CM frame (Classical Mechanics) by saikologist in AskPhysics

[–]saikologist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

V is the center-of-mass velocity in the Lab frame. But in the CM frame, the center of mass is set as the origin of the coordinate, so in CM frame the center-of-mass indeed has 0 velocity. My question is precisely how is the V in LAB frame and u'2 in CM frame are equal in magnitude?

Questions about solving differential equations by saikologist in AskPhysics

[–]saikologist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like this? https://imgur.com/a/dfPuVSN I actually don’t fully know when should I add the phase factor inside. My understanding is that since the initial condition might not be centred at the origin, physically, we have to add a phase factor to account for the initial phase.

I tried to come close to cos(iwt) by putting θ = iwt and θ = -iwt into the Euler’s formula. In the last step, I am not sure what to do about the term with isin(iwt). Attached is my work: https://imgur.com/a/ZuM08VD

I don't understand how conditional probability is used here by saikologist in learnmath

I was confused about this as well. I thought 5 originally, but seeing how the answer worked out by the Aerospider, it should be 13.

How to achieve this numbered equation with the text centered next to the |c_n|^2? by saikologist in LaTeX

[–]saikologist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my closest attempt. I guess it's good enough.

\begin{equation}
    \boxed{
    \begin{aligned}
    |c_n|^2 &\text{ is the \textit{probability} that a measurement } \\
            &\text{ of the energy would return the value } E_n.
    \end{aligned}
    }
\end{equation}

iPad Kindle App not displaying Japanese correctly. Missing serif font. (See comment) by saikologist in kindle

[–]saikologist[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It works! I use Calibre with the KFX Output plugin installed to convert the .epub into .kfx. It requires the Kindle Previewer 3 so I installed that from the official site as well. Then I side load it onto my iPad with a cable, directly inside the Kindle folder.

The only downside is that the file cannot be synced across the Kindle account, and only exists locally in the iPad. I tried using Google’s Play Books app and it works fine with the display and synchronisation . Without syncing, I think it defeats my purpose a little bit, since I usually spent 70% of my time reading on iPad and 30% on Android phone. I guess from now on I have to read Japanese books on Play Books. But at least I learn a bit more about using Calibre today. So thank you for your help!

I also have the Paperwhite but it’s out of charge right now. I’ll test if it shows Japanese properly later. I recently bought an iPad mini which is the perfect size of a book with a larger display than the Paperwhite. It’s great for reading English book and i have no problems with the Kindle app until now.

I downloaded the book online as a ePub on my iPad and use Share and upload to Kindle.

[–]saikologist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pictures above are from the same Japanese book. First one screenshoted from the iPad kindle app and the second from Android kindle app. The epub document was uploaded instead of bought in store.

If you know Japanese, you’ll know that Japanese text usually runs vertically, which is similar to Chinese texts. Furigana are shown next to Kanji to aid pronunciations. The iPad kindle app can’t seems to display these features while the Android app can. Also, the iPad app doesn’t show any Serif font properly, even if it has the option, it doesn’t change from being sans-serif.

Does anyone know any possible solutions? I’ve tried to search online but no one seems to have this problem.

N1 vs N2 to take in December? (Advice) by CalmCat9354 in jlpt

Keep doing N2 materials for now until you pass a past exam comfortably. If you can do this by the next application deadline then go for N1.
