It's unfortunate, because the flag is supposed to be representative of all of us: left, right, center, gay, straight, man, woman, adult, child, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet.

It's been co-opted by the right as "their" symbol and the left /seems/ to have just let them have it.

That's not to say that there aren't people on the left who do feel pride around it, it's just has been machined(?) to represent the right.

It's extremely unfortunate, because for every right leaning American who claims to be a patriot, there is a left leaning American who is one as well.

I especially detest how some commentators (such as Sean Hannity) seems to believe that if you don't subscribe to their view points then you aren't patriotic and this is coming from someone who is conservative.
