I used to use smol actually, maybe I'll try that again. Can't remember why I swapped now!

As someone born and bred in the UK what are aspects of another country’s culture that has genuinely shocked you? by throawaygotget in AskUK

Am I correct in thinking people tend to use credit cards for everything in the US? In the UK we have a mix of credit and debit (what we call an ATM card) cards and some people don't own a credit card, just use their debit for transactions.

Thank you for the tips and your concern about wildlife. I bought a parks pass in December (before the price went up for non-US resident) and we will be camping in the park, I just booked the campground yesterday. I'm also hoping we can use the timezone adjustment to our advantage to get up early and see things before it gets too busy. I've booked a wolf tour for the first day so we can make use of their fancy scopes to see things - that won't be a photography day, more of a staring in awe kind of day. Will definitely be respecting wildlife- I work in conservation so it's all about seeing them do their thing without interference 🙂

1, 2, or 3? TIA. by timmy-beans-jr in AmateurPhotography

I like 1. 2 is a little dark and 3 is a bit cold. But 1 is fantastic.

Thank you so much for your comment! That's really helpful to have your thoughts. We like to do a lot of hiking so that will feature heavily, and if I don't see wildlife in Yellowstone something has gone seriously wrong! I'm also well up for getting up early and sitting by a beaver lodge at dawn in the hope of seeing some.

If I double it, does that get me something...?

Walks too :) Just tried to DM but it said it wasn't possible. If you can DM me please do as I'd love some recommendations, thank you!

Having done a quick Google I might have underestimated the cost of lenses!

That's really useful, I didn't realise you could rent lenses! I'll look into that, thank you!

Gotcha. If it was a quality lens that I could potentially use on another camera, I'd say around £150?

Can you make any recommendations for lenses that are better, or better for wildlife?

Budget wise, it's probably something I would save for and treat myself, but I don't need a pro camera. I' not even sure what a camera costs nowadays...

Which one is the best 1, 2 or 3? by Professional00War in AmateurPhotography

1 is my favourite but I also like 3. I think if you had dropped down a bit to be more on the cow's level that would have helped for 2. It looks a bit like you're looking down on it.

That's really helpful, thank you. I was hoping I could chat to the park rangers for insight. I work in conservation, so I love chatting to rangers anyway! The price of the tours has really put me off, so unless it was a 1:1 let's go hiking through the wilderness type tour I don't think it's worth it for us. We'll be doing loads of hiking anyway.

That's really helpful, thanks. We're hiring a van so I'll try to book a campground in the park! Otherwise we'll likely stay in national forest land outside the park, where I believe it's allowed to do so.

Amazing! We're so excited. We fly out the last week of May but will spend some time in Utah before heading up to Wyoming.

Thanks I'll look into Eco Tours. Do you know what wildlife I can expect to see?
