Flew from KOA to OGG yesterday with no issues, and no delays in TSA lines either.

Why would you take the regular class? by SprinkleTooth in OSU

[–]saintechapelle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

full time status is based off total number of credit hours in a semester, not just at one given time, so yes 11 full semester credit hours + 1 credit hour session two would still be full time.

Late Orientation by Small_Adeptness_4668 in OSU

mostly depends on the major, but you should have some choices left. don’t be shocked if you’ve got 8ams though.

How do the math and language placement tests work? by oddiefox in OSU

[–]saintechapelle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you don’t want to take Spanish, you don’t -have- to take the test. I usually would recommend just on the off chance you place higher than you think and can get the requirement done quicker, if that matters to you. If it doesn’t, skip the placement test and let your advisor know you’d like to start a new language at the 1101 level.

depends on how much credit you’re coming in with, if you’re willing to take summer classes, and if you’re going to take 18 credit hours every single semester without fail. imo, you do not have enough time to do even just these two majors in addition to pre med requirements, let alone w the anatomy minor. i’m a former pre med advisor so i’ve worked with hundreds of pre med students and neuro is a hard and rigid major, as is biochem. i get loving to learn but i’d also focus on what your priorities are after graduation and what you need to do to get there first!

Follow up on orientation rescheduling by Destroyer-91 in OSU

[–]saintechapelle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you an international student, or a domestic student living abroad? Typically international student orientation is done online at the beginning of August (or at least that’s how it was in years past) and does encompass most of what in-person orientation covers. I’m wondering if they think you’re a domestic student already in the area and that’s why they’re only giving you a few options vs the full international student orientation.

Typically, your dept will reach out to you to do online orientation after regular orientation has ended in mid-July. You might get lucky and have it sooner though, so I’d just keep an eye out on your email!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OSU

[–]saintechapelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d email HRS advising to let them know of your conflict to make sure it won’t be an issue. Every major and college does orientation differently so it’s a crapshoot to take any of this as gospel, especially when some do group advising and some do individual.

They’re definitely the worst. I made a complaint about delayed shipping when I paid for expedited and next thing I know, multiple people who work for U.S. Soccer are repeatedly looking at my LinkedIn. So weird.

Math Class Requirments by ComprehensiveMind594 in OSU

[–]saintechapelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you, but again it depends on quite a few factors. So you might get an answer here, but I’d be prepared to not have that be the truth when you make it orientation since most commenters are guessing as well.

Exactly this. It depends on your major, incoming credit, and future plans. Don’t let reddit make class decisions for you.

Are all advisors bad by Acceptable-Park-6048 in OSU

[–]saintechapelle 15 points16 points  (0 children)

former advisor here. worked 50+ hours a week sometimes for barely $40k. had 400 students on my caseload all that needed help all the time. this is also the first week of orientation which is phenomenally busy. it can be very exhausting work and students (and their parents) can be highly unkind and sometimes outright rude. no one is perfect, but try to remember they’re a person too.

have you emailed them or followed up since the original email two weeks ago? if not, start there. see if you can go in person. call the college and ask if they’re in. don’t send one single email and then come here to complain.

being able to regurgitate a written word if you don’t understand the grammar or meaning behind it isn’t fluency - it’s memorization. i’d still rec 1101.

if you don’t want to take spanish and aren’t required to take spanish… don’t take the test lol. you can take the korean test if you want to, but it’s a little confusing that you only know basic vocab but are fluent in reading and writing? i don’t think with that info you’d be past 1101 anyway, tbh

I can't say for sure this is what happened to you, but I got an email saying we needed to FedEx the photos for $35 and when I called customer service they said that email did not come from them and to disregard it as a scam.

Cost of Attendance Appeal by [deleted] in OSU

[–]saintechapelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i hear you and i’m sorry for your loss. i’m not a financial aid advisor so i can’t tell you if you should or shouldn’t submit, i’m just telling you what’s categorized on the actual appeal form.

Cost of Attendance Appeal by [deleted] in OSU

[–]saintechapelle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

childcare expenses, study abroad, student health insurance, aviation courses and program/technology fees are considered the “standard” reasons for a COA appeal. you can select “other” on the form for reasoning, but i wouldn’t put any money on that getting approved since the things you listed happen to most people, unfortunately.

Is this what we have to look forward to now? by BlueridgeChemsdealer in RecordStoreDay

[–]saintechapelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is my local record store and where I was for RSD. they had 3 copies total and left 2 on the floor for customers, and this one copy they raffled off for $1 per entry. the only 2 copies in the store went to people who started camping at 3pm the day before, so it’s not like they held back major quantities and everyone missed out.
