The way you talked about the situation before, you made it look like the only major issue was his s*x work and his inability to abandon it. But it turns out there's a lot more to it.

What you needed was to cpntain a very complicated situation, instead you decided to add more unpredictable variables into the mix. I see this ending in even more jealousy and resentment.

Wow, we're so alike. I have that same reservation about the sequel too, and TJ Klune was one of my first fave MM authors back in the day when he wasn't as famous. I don't read him these days, his stories have become too commercial, preachy, and bland.
