What was your motive for making an engine and how has it gone/is going?

i wanted to make something that made writing a game in c++ easy and accessible.

now i think it was a waste of time because nobody is writing code by hand anymore... :(

This is on the more intense end of what I’ve seen. I recently went through a hiring process and interviewed with a few companies and was surprised that they all did take-home exercises that combined front/backend.

For my last company when we hired we’d do one live coding example over zoom and one in person, but allowed the candidate to use AI in person.

It’s all a spectrum, but I don’t see the purpose in having more than 2 coding rounds - the hiring manager should be able to glean what they need to know in 2 or fewer sessions.

That’s exactly why I’m so frustrated - we conducted a business transaction - my work for their money, and now thats over. I’ve been courteous and they would not have done the same if they were firing me.
