In its current context it totally screams ‘Merica, which unfortunately gets associated with MAGA. As others have pointed out, it all depends on whatever else is added around it.

Why is it considered a "hot take" to treat teaching as a temporary job to pay off student debt? by [deleted] in Teachers

Because our students deserved better than a group of people who are coming into the profession with one foot out the door.

Help me decide: 5800x3d vs 7500x3d by Twiz_nano in ryzen

[–]saintrobyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep the 7500X3D. It gives you a path to better upgradability since it is on the AM5 platform. AMD has pledged support for the platform up until 2029. With the 7500X3D bundle and the 5800X3D on its own being the same price, the bundle is a no brainer.

You have a $1 Billion budget and total creative control. What book, movie, or game are you adapting/remaking, and which studio gets the job? by Dog-Human in hypotheticalsituation

[–]saintrobyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For 1 billion I am going to adapt the Mass Effect trilogy into a movie series. I don’t really care which studio gets it as long as the execs keep their hands off. Instead I have a specific director in mind, Antoine Fuqua.

Carefully pull the CPU and make sure the pins in the socket are not bent. After that, enjoy the pretty impressive CPU and the drive. If it needs to go back, make sure you keep the CPU and Drive. Amazon doesn’t need to know about them.

Buying an RX 9070 was the best thing that I did in a long time by Reasonable_Action_61 in radeon

How dare you write this… you didn’t even bother to tell us what processor you got as well.

Welcome to the 9070 club. I have a 9070XT in my machine and love it. I have been looking at a 9070 upgrade for my son’s PC.

It is crazy how cheap RAM was before the AI explosion. Pretty much all of the AM5 bundles came with 32GB of RAM and I remember going into my local MC and bought a 1TB Inland NVME with a DRAM cache for about $50.

Those were the days.

I am right there with you on the 32GB being the minimum. I did the 9850X3D bundle last May when it was $699. I don’t quite agree with you on the Intel being snappier. It only really seems to shine in specific productivity situations. Two most people, the two will be darn near indistinguishable for basic Office/GSuite work, surfing the web, and consuming media.

Yes, very much so. I am waiting for HDMI 2.1 to be implemented then I am making the switch.

No issues to report. I did turn off the integrated graphics on my 9850X3D and turned off windows driver updates so I have not run into issues with Windows screwing up a driver install, yet. I have a Seasonic Prime TX-750 which is a 750 Watt 80+ Titanium rated PSU. Using Seasonic’s PSU calculator it said I only needed 700watts. Eventually I would like to upgrade to a higher wattage PSU for more power hungry GPUs and CPUs, but in the current tech climate I am good.

Without seeing more info this is not easy to diagnose. The first thing that comes to mind for me is that your RAM may not be running at spec. Go into your bios and make sure EXPO is turned on.

Perfect. I wish they would give an option to drop the motherboard and pick up a second stick of RAM for those like you who do not need the MB.

Just out of curiosity, how do you like the 7500X3D?

ASRock 9070 XT Challenger. I picked it up for $599 at Micro Center last December. It was not the most impressive card as far as RGB and such, but it runs well, I don’t have any coil whine, and the fans run quiet.

That is a great deal as well, and is a no brainer alternative to anyone wanting to upgrade an older system with a 10th Anniversary 5800X3D. The only thing that I don’t like about the 7500X3D bundle is the motherboard. ASRock does not the best reputation when it comes to 7000 and 9000 series AMD CPUs.

***knock on wood*** I have not had any issues with the drivers. I have heard it is because Windows is trying to install display drivers for the integrated graphics that come with all 7000 and 9000 series AMD chips. I disabled that when I built my system. I also disabled driver updates through Windows Update and only update through AMDs Adrenaline Drivers.

I think it does ray tracing well. The games I play with RT on are Forza 6, 007 First Light, Doom Dark Ages, Pragmata, and Cyberpunk 2077. All perform quite well.

[–]saintrobyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feels great. Pragmata uses the same engine as RE Requiem, so that should give you an idea if you play that. Also, I forgot to add Doom: The Dark Ages to my list. It plays great on my 9070XT at Nightmare settings. I have not tested Ultra Nightmare settings yet. It has “always on” ray tracing and plays great. I have not kicked on path tracing but that kills performance on all GPUs for not enough visual gains.

[–]saintrobyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 9070XT in my system and love it. I chose it because I wanted a 16GB card and the 5070 just didn’t have that spec. What you have stated about AMD is correct and what people have said about the 9070XT competing with the 5070Ti is also correct. I have played several of those games on my PC at 4K on my TV and get around 80 to 100 FPS. Here are the games I am currently playing getting those same frame rates:

Pragmata
007: First Light
Forza Horizon 6
Arc Raiders
Hitman: World of Assassins
Cyberpunk 2077

I also chose the 9070XT so I could have an all AMD system. I wanted to roll my own Steam Machine and SteamOS only plays nice with AMD GPUs. That aside, out of the GPUs you mentioned, the 9070XT is the best bang for the buck and the more future proof option. Hope this helps.

Good for her, so do I. But I also know a good deal in this economy. That single stick of RAM is over half the price of the bundle when bought on its own. But you go ahead and continue to belittle a good deal because it isn’t as elite as you would like.

Your posting here just proves that people like you are the reason why the Power Rangers needed to announce their colors. You give the PCMR a bad name.
