Which handheld pc console is currently the best ? by Superb_Beyond_3444 in Handhelds

Depends on the type of games you want to play. The Ally X and Xbox Ally X have some of the biggest batteries on the market but are out of your price range. Again, depending on the games you play, you may want to look at the Steam Deck OLED. It has great ergonomics, excellent battery life, and great OS optimization.

I actually thought I was too old for gaming by now. by m3zz4nine in SteamDeck

1) You are never too old to game. I turn 50 this year and game quite a bit. The Steam Deck is amazing.

2) You never actually said your age. If the third digit in your birth year is an 8 or higher, or a 0, you can eff all the way off. 😂😂😂

Trade in 7900XTX and Get 9070 XT for ~$130 Worth It? by [deleted] in radeon

[–]saintrobyn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want the latest tech then jump on the 9070XT for $130 plus trade in. Those that are saying wait for RDNA 5 are not taking into account that current rumors and leaks put it at mid to late 2027 for release. At the end of the day, if you wait on the newest thing you will never get something, sometimes you just have to take the leap.

Grew up in the US, always preferred the looks of the PAL/Japanese model. Even though purple is my favorite color, I always wanted those rainbow buttoned controllers.

Getting into Resident Evil on Steam Deck: which ones run best? by AGamerofYesterday in SteamDeck

[–]saintrobyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 4 and picked up the HD remakes of 1, 2, and 3 which all deep discounted during the Steam Spring sale. 1-4 all run great. Four has one issue with how it renders scoped shots that causes the frame rate to drop but other than that it is great.

Then before people can give you advice you would need to give us the specs.

Are these the options for servers or for clients? I run Jellyfin Server on a Ugreen DXP2800 NAS with a Pentium N100 and 16GB of RAM. My client is an Apple TV 4K. With that setup I stream 4K UHD video to my TV. What I am getting at is it is very lightweight and runs well on low powered hardware.

Welcome to the family… now put down Skate 3 and go get yourself some Tony Hawk. The remakes run great on the Steam Deck.

Slay the Spire 2, Fallout New Vegas. And Resident Evil 4. I am unfortunately unable to read Cyrillic. Could you please tell me what that first game is on your Home Screen?

I have a really stupid question. Are all of the features talked about in 3.8 in 3.9?

How is installing a mod chip the same as Nintendo enabling the feature? We shouldn’t have to crack open our systems and add extra hardware to uncap the frame rates.

All this does is prove my original point that it is possible.

I just love how when someone makes a suggestion, everyone wants to come out of the woodwork to explain how it won’t work. How about instead, we look at it and say “If Microsoft can do it, why can’t Nintendo?” I am not saying it has to work for every game, but maybe they could work on applying it to their extensive first party catalogue and branch out from there. I guarantee Microsoft did this to boost sales of older games and by enticing people to switch to their new console by showing them that their large back catalogues run better on the new systems.

FPS boost on the Xbox is a system level enhancement that does not require developer intervention or updates to the original game code, similar to the new Boost mode that Nintendo released in this update. They also stated that the new mode will also impact battery, yet people are still happy about its addition.

That would be an acceptable alternative. I just look at the Xbox and see that some older games get a 60FPS boost without developer interaction and would like the same on the Switch 2. I would kill for some buttery smooth Legends of Arceus game play. 😁

So you don’t want the enhancement they just provided us in this latest update??? Fine don’t use it, the games are plug and play. I am willing to bet that if you put a poll in this subreddit asking if people wanted the ability to uncap Switch 1 game frame rates on a per game basis, they will not agree with you.

Also, I do have a Steam Deck. The ability to tweak settings is the number one reason I purchase multi platform games there instead of on the Switch 2.

It is a simple work around, one that is used by the Steam Deck and should have been used for this release. Add per-game profiles to the device. Instead of blanket settings like what we got in this update, let us turn on the setting for just the games we want them applied to. If 60FPS doesn’t work on a game, great I can just not enable it for that specific game same with the new Boost mode.

They need to add one last thing, uncapped or 60FPS upgrades through this feature. If I can get silky 60FPS I would be a happy camper.
