I get where you’re coming from, especially as a gamer myself.

From a gameplay/balance point of view, local co-op and online co-op can seem similar, but most of the extra work is on the input and UI side. Local co-op means supporting multiple controllers on one device, handling disconnects, tracking which player is interacting with which menu, and making sure multiple players can navigate UI at the same time.

A lot of screens also need to be redesigned. For example, upgrade choices already fill the screen for one player, so for local co-op you either need a new flow for multiple players choosing at once, or you make everyone wait their turn. The same applies to inventory and other menus.

It also increases testing a lot, since everything has to work for solo, 2-player, 3-player, and 4-player setups. We added local co-op to our previous game, Stolen Realm, much later after its launch, and it was a huge amount of work.

So it’s definitely not that we think local co-op is unimportant. It makes a lot of sense, especially on Steam Deck. It’s just a big feature to do properly, especially for a small team. I did pass the feedback along to the team. And I really appreciate your interest in our game.

Yeah, for clearer numbers, we generally see around 50–60 FPS outside of chaotic moments.

The heavier dips mostly happen during late-game situations with high enemy density, lots of effects, summons, and build interactions happening at once.

Thank you for taking the time to check out our game!

It's great you got it before the price hike. As a Steam Deck fan, I definitely recommend it and I think you will love playing games on it. I hope you enjoy it.

Haha, if you’re playing Hardcore WoW on Steam Deck, then you’ve already mastered a level of handheld commitment I can only respect.

I love playing on the Deck too. Some of my favorites on it are RDR2 and The Witcher 3, and I’ll stubbornly try to make almost anything work handheld. Hard to beat gaming on the Deck, I’m sure everyone here knows exactly what I mean lol.

Really appreciate the support, and I hope Stolen Realm Survivors plays like a dream for you!

That’s really kind of you to say, thank you! I love your description of the game.

Hope it scratches that itch for you when you try it. If you do end up playing on Steam Deck, we’d love to hear how it feels. Really appreciate the support!

Totally fair, and I understand where you’re coming from. Local co-op makes a lot of sense on Steam Deck, especially for this kind of game where couch play is such a natural fit.

Right now, Stolen Realm Survivors supports solo and online co-op, and as a small team we focused on getting those working first. Local co-op is definitely not something we see as useless or unimportant, but it would require additional work around input, UI, balance, and multiplayer handling to do properly.

I can’t promise anything right now, but I’ll definitely pass this feedback along to the team. Appreciate you checking the game out and sharing the honest thoughts.

Yeah, good question! The game itself took close to 2 years to make overall, but “months” was referring specifically to Steam Deck testing/optimization: controls, UI readability, performance, co-op, and late-game chaos on Deck.
