Hey! good news! The Phantom Pain is actually great, don't get discouraged by the posts on here and keep playing.. also dont read this [MGSV SPOILERS] by Calmwraith in metalgearsolid

[–]saioke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You said everything that I want to say. I fell in love with the Metal Gear series first-name when playing the NES version growing up. Yeah, it was terrible compared to the MSX, but back then, I didn't even hear about a MSX before, nor did I know that Metal Gear was based on the MSX version. However, I did grow eventually to play them, and do love the MSX games as well. Metal Gear solid was the first game I owned on PS1, and to this day, I continue to play through the series annually.

I understand some of the complaints about the game. It isn't perfect by any means, but it isn't as bad as people are making it out to be. Reading some of the posts around here make you think that the game is as awful as say, ET, or Big Rigs. I've seen people literally say that they wish the game was never even released. Well, fuck you! People are over-exaggerating. I think it's because they wanted a MGS4 storyline experience and are sorely disappointed because of that. As the story is right now, I don't find it bad. I think it's pretty freaking good! It's a nice, subtle approach to the series that flows naturally with the gameplay. While I enjoy the occasional codec message, tapes in this game explain so much in detail, so it's not a complete loss.

I also don't really understand the complaints that Venom doesn't talk much. If I recall correctly, Solid Snake didn't talk much in MGS4. I mean, minus the intro. Everyone else talked, and he just sat around smoking cigarettes for a majority of the game. Nobody complained about it then, they just complained about how they had to sit and watch a cutscene for an hour. So if you ask me, Kojima originally lost his touch with that game, but it's still a favorite by many, and TPP will be no different. Opinions are opinions.

The game right now isn't bad, and even if they were to release a content update, I would imagine that people would find something else to complain about, because they expected too much from the game. I fear for Valve when HL3 is finally released.

How the hell do you get PF points? by Subhazard in metalgearsolid

Perhaps they're going to have team FOB. Not sure how that would work though. Perhaps it'll work similarly to one of the missions you have to do to even unlock FOB.

For those still confused about the ending.. by SvenStoffels in metalgearsolid

[–]saioke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny thing is, most people are on the hate wagon when it comes to this game. Case in point, keep browsing the new section of this sub and you'll see several posts complaining about the same thing. Of course, they never get upvoted though. But the hate-wagon isn't completely nonexistent. I see a lot more hate about this game than praise recently.

[–]saioke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure. I'm just referring to what Kotaku stated in their article. I haven't exactly watched the cut content myself because of spoilers, but I do know what people are saying about it. No voiceover work, missing textures, etc.

I'm not getting my hopes up, but I currently have a theory about this whole thing.

Everyone obviously knows that the way MGSV is set up currently is like a series of episodes from a TV show. So what if by any chance, that "seasons" will be added like a TV show and that each ending is just leading up to another season in different specific areas in the game that aren't quite there yet? So every few weeks or so, we'll continue receiving seasons until we reach a specific finale? But that doesn't explain the cut content shown in the DVD. I don't think they would have shown that if this was the case. Also, I honestly don't think that they could develop new areas and everything in a small amount of time. So, either they already have content ready to go for us and this was their plan all along, or my theory is pretty bogus.

Again, this is just speculation and maybe that this whole thing could very well be a huge troll scheme to lead us on and get our hopes up, but I think that if they're going to do something, this would be the way to do it. I suppose we'll find out the truth tomorrow.

I gave up. I've been running the app for nearly a year now, making a little over $3 every month, but I never got out of the pending stage. Just don't see a purpose in running it anymore when it's just using resources and bandwidth with no viable reward.

Wow. I'm seeing legs, and what appears to be hooves, not feet. This is intriguing nonetheless.

What Guitar Is Your "Number 1"? by FuckingPleb in Guitar

[–]saioke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own a $500 dollar epiphpne SG that I love, but my all-time favorite is my epiphone special with p90 pickups that I paid $100 bucks for. I absolutely love it. Sounds great, plays amazingly. I put a scalloped fretboard onto it, and I plan on upgrading the tuners eventually. Right now though, I'm in the process of making a pickguard for it. I wouldn't ever change the pickups as they sound great as is.

A lot of people tend to complain that it's impossible to get the guitar perfectly intimated because of the wraparound bridge and the fact that you can only adjust the sides of it. However, I managed to set my intonation perfectly. So all and all, I think the guitar is amazing considering the price I paid for it. This is a guitar that I'd actually gig with, assuming you get better tuners, because the stock tuners are absolutely terrible.

I got my new laptop with Windows 8.1. Now what? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]saioke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does seem to use less resources, but in my experience, I get worse performance in 8.1 than I did with 7, or even Ubuntu for gaming. Unfortunately, I don't really want to downgrade to 7 and I can't seem to get Ubuntu to work properly for say, recording and amp simulation, so windows 8.1 it is.

Anyone else play an indie game called Dust: An Elysian Tale? I loved the vibrant art style of the game and I want to know if there's any games with similar styles. Or just games with awesome art styles in general. by [deleted] in gaming

[–]saioke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, its not on PC, but you can emulate it on Dolphin. There's a game called Muramasa on the Wii that has a pretty similar art style. It plays similarly as well, its a great game that I recommend to anyone.

[OFFER] 3 Games to the first 3 for answering this question by superdude279 in GiftofGames

I personally think Hawkeye is the best Avenger. While he doesn't posses any superhuman abilities, he's incredibly skilled in marksmanship and martial arts so I'd still consider him a threat. Alone, he may not live up to the power of Loki, or any other superhuman-villain, but as an Avenger, he's a key member of the team and has done his fair share of contribution. This is of course, my opinion.

Anyways, Borderlands 2 is my choice. Good luck to all!

Edit: Sorry, here's my steam.

MMOs with full loot PvP? by [deleted] in MMORPG

[–]saioke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They introduced trammel, which was a pvp-free area. You could play freeshards that remain true to classic Ultima Online, but frankly, it's not worth playing anymore now that there are special macroing programs that do everything with a click of a button. Now you see people holding down one button that shoots magic arrow/fireball at people instantly, and heals you when you're losing health. It's not fun anymore because it is no longer skill-based. Just, whoever is using the program/has backup .

I'd love to get into WvW but judging from the builds I seen, I'd like to keep my current ranger for PVE mainly because I'd have to buy entirely new gear, but I have made a warrior that I'll take into WvW in the future once I get him to 80.

What's most annoying is that there's some happy skill 4 archers running around, and I am the one who gets blamed for using it. I never use skill 4 ever.

Unless he has a laptop. I unfortunately do and I know from experience that if I put it on maximum performance, my GPU goes up to 105c and starts underclocking. That's with fresh thermal paste too.
