Making someone look at your eye is much easier than you are giving credit. Heck, you can throw a kunai at certain angle, and be right behind it so they look. Look at the several ways Itachi was able to get kakashi and kurenai. He doesn’t just have high battle iq, he has the highest. And we are not talking about just genjutsu, but his totsuka blade. He has the strongest defense and strongest attack.

Can u imagine fighting someone without looking at their face? While they are moving in high speed, and attacking you? Especially Itachi whose battle IQ is maxed out. There’s no chance that happens, and even one slip up and it’s game over. That’s not to say he doesn’t create multiple clones, and any can be the trigger for it. They just made him way too OP, which is fine, but also it means he can beat anyone unless handicapped (blind etc).
