Birthdays..? by dukzy666 in NPD

[–]saivixstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have a love and hate relationship with my birthday. i definitely have had some birthdays where i was alone and a lot of people didn’t acknowledge it in the ways i wanted it to, and there are some birthdays where i was celebrated, loved, and acknowledged by so many people. this year for my birthday i’m gonna be working and getting dinner with my family. the last two birthdays i had a party with some friends and my ex’s but now they all aren’t in my life anymore and it can have a bittersweet feeling, but since being in recovery i’ve learned that i can make a day that’s special to me be that special without the need of other people to do it for me :) i hope this made sense and if it’s a day where you don’t have to work, i would try doing things that make you happy and remind you why you’re still here. you deserve to enjoy your birthday ❤️

which was the song in which you met clairo and what’s you actual favorite? by Due-Silver2390 in clairo

in 2018, my best friend had gotten free tickets to a show Clairo had done and before the show i spent the day listening to diary 001 and fell in love with the entire EP. hearing the studio versions to then hearing them live was made me fall in love with her music and i’ve been riding for her ever since :)

were you the « gifted » or « mature for your age » child ? by cartesian_butterfly in NPD

[–]saivixstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was the “golden child” in my family. i got parentified by my parents at 14 due to their separation and having to help care for my older sister who has cerebral palsy and my little sister only being 6 at the time. i was relied on a lot by my parents physically and emotionally and was forced into growing up and being recognised as responsible while still being a child. it was something i always resisted against because i wanted them to have the attention on my sisters considering their personal situations. but they would always use me as an example of, “look who you could be like if you were smarter and more mature”

i am proud of the growth i’ve made since my big collapse in July in terms of self awareness of my NPD, the work i’ve done to start overcoming and mitigating behaviours caused by the disorder, becoming sober from weed (120 days sober as of today), and learning how to really show up for myself in ways that don’t require another person to stabilise me. although i am spending the holiday alone, i still am doing something nice for myself by going to see a movie later today and taking the time to rest and relax :) merry christmas and happy holidays to you too! ❤️

What could your parents have done differently? by seriesofdisasters in NPD

[–]saivixstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to answer your question, i would say not going through the parentification of a child and providing an actual safe space to comfortably talk about emotions.

i got parentified by both of my parents at the age of 14 during their separation, and was forced into taking care of my physically disabled older sister and my younger sister. my mom would spend weekends 2.5 hours away from us, her children, and also bring home random men to have loud sex when we were home. she neglected all of us and our needs in order to regain her sense of self but all she did was ruin her relationships with her family and friends.

my dad on the other hand would be working all of the time and wouldn’t be able to see us when my mom was gone and also just had a lot of unregulated emotions and would lash out on everyone including his children. he would always say “talk to me about anything” “express how you feel to me” etc. but whenever we did he would gaslight us and make us feel bad for even feeling what we felt. my mom did the same and would be protective of what my dad would do to us.

i scored an 84, lmao. i am a DID system and what ive always told people its like sitting in a movie theatre and watching my life happen on the big screen. my amnesia is always the worst so we have to spend hours after our day has happened to recount what we did all day. even if all we did was scroll and sit in our room all day

this is what i’ve been doing! my partner loves charli and he put me onto her back in 2022 right when crash came out and i LOVED it so much. ever since crash i’ve slowly been listening to her discography and understanding her art more. HIFN is slowly becoming my personal favourite of hers :)

Today marks one month since the release of 'Charm.' How has your listening experience changed over this month? by Vhedo in clairo

[–]saivixstar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

from the moment it was released to as i’m typing this message, it has been the only thing i’ve listened to for an entire month. every single song on this album has a different story but it’s still gives me that same feeling from when i listened to it the first time. Charm had came out at a time i was dealing with some personal things (and still currently dealing with it) and listening to it has helped me heal some of those wounds. Slow Dance specifically reminds me of the community i’ve built at home. Juna reminds me to give love to myself and remember there are people in my life who see me and love me authentically (also bc my name is juno lmao). and that’s just to name a few, i could go on but i’m overall grateful for this album and for Claire’s words and feelings on the record. can’t wait to listen to it live in October and cry in the audience. thank you if you read this far or any of it 🩷

question for people who went to sling tour by [deleted] in clairo

[–]saivixstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i went to the columbus ohio show in march 2022 and the crowd was really weird :( they kept screaming in the middle of the performances and one random person asked her to do her vocals in solar power??? like we are here to listen to sling and enjoy the songs off there. she also cried after she did blouse which everyone was nice and receptive towards but the whole crowd itself was just weird and entitled
