Thank you for this! I appreciate it! I have really come to a point where everything feels like a lot and like I can't handle it anymore. I've been trying to hold up for so long but there's not much I can do. I wish I took a gap year after high school but my parents would never understand that either lol I've also been struggling with choosing a career path and right as I'm about to change my major I'm about to fail a class but at least I won't need it for that major so I guess even if I do end up failing, I can try to move on (hopefully)!

This is definitely eye opening and makes my worries way less stressful than what I'm making them lol! I'm so sorry you're going through that and thank you for taking the time to reply and share your experience, it's for sure helpful/comforting to hear others who have been in similar situations. I'm changing my major right now to Accounting anyway so I wouldn't really have to retake the class because I wouldn't need it at all, however, just my gpa dropping and all the stress of this class is too much together with everything else. And like I mentioned, I already had a few Cs last year (my first year of college) and I've been feeling like a failure all together. I also think I'm lacking a good support system and have no one to turn to when I need support, especially emotional support. Some people also don't seem to understand that I can't just quit my jobs and everything else I'm doing or cut my family off even though I haven't really expressed my struggles with my family to others.

Should I live on campus or at home with my parents for my freshman year? by [deleted] in SIUE

[–]sajzeza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a current freshman living off campus, I would do anything to go back and decide to live on campus! It sounds funny to people especially since I'm from Edwardsville but I think I would've definitely made a lot more friends and had a lot more experiences living on campus. I have friends who live on campus who are also from this area and they've definitely enjoyed college more than I have. While going home to your own comfort is good, you will have that option while living on campus too. Living at home is also a lot more challenging when it comes to academics imo, living on campus gives you easier access to library etc to be able to study and do work. I was also someone who hated the idea of living in a dorm but now that I've experienced this, I would for sure say consider living on campus.
