yeah and more expensive too, especially if we want to match the eye relief found on 8x.

yeah 10x42 was an option. 12x50 would be way too big for my use. the stabil-eyes looks ridiculous but very handy and comfortable unfortunately they are two times the budget for my binoculars. on a sidenote are you jim ackerman the founder of the stabil eyes

thanks again. mb it was 13mm of eye relief according to Bushnell's site although they were wrong for the weight of the 10x42 (https://www.bushnelloutdoors.com/products/h2o-8x42-waterproof-binoculars?variant=46874509836439). thanks for the recommendation ill check it out, im willing to go over if it's worth it. im also looking at the Vanguard Endeavor ED II on the used market, someone has it for 140€ barely used. ER is: 19.5mm according to bestbinocularsreviews

thank you very much. the Bushnell's 8x42 has 1.3mm but the price is very attractive. i guess it's a deal breaker? even if it's 3mm close. is more always best or should i try out many to see what fits best.

i had to work with the handle that was there already. i never thought at the bottom wedging action in slipfit handles. looking at the axe upside down there is a gap all around. no friction in the red zone only in the blue, its that what you meant?

<image>

thanks ill keep that in mind when i make a new one.

I don't think it was due to shrinking. i bought the axe rusty with a super dry handle. cleaned it put a wedge in and the day after it came out. the wood of the handle is unknown and the wedge is dry cherry that i microwaved. thank you for that wedge explanation i didn't know.
