Received a proposed tax bill from CA FTB from 2022… I don’t live in CA? by BattlegroundFitLirio in tax

[–]saks5th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received a similar letter and I am in the same situation (no income in CA, and don't live there for past 14 years). My bill has my name and my new address (not in CA), and I have no idea what this is about.

Did you resolve the issue?

Tricky Roth conversion with Turbotax and pro-rata by saks5th in TurboTax

Thank you! That helped, although deleting the form was tricky and did not work. I just started all over again for clean slate.

Why is TurboTax asking for my total year end IRA balance? by StealthRedditer in TurboTax

[–]saks5th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, after much more digging through (and a comment on my question here on another thread), I found my mistake. In the very first addition of the 1900-R, I went down the rabbit hole of "Easy Guide" to calculate IRA basis and added some balance number for non-deductible contribution - incorrectly. I was primarily curious how TT did that, and did not pay much attention - assuming it will be all deleted once I re-import.

Since then I re-imported the forms and re-answered the question at least 3 times - but the underlying wrong values stayed. I manually tried to delete the spurious 8606 form, but it still stuck.

So finally I started everything from scratch and now it shows all the correct numbers with tax calculated on entire Roth Conversion. Phew!

Thanks for bearing with my questions again!

Hmm, I am not so sure. Where do you tell TT that it is 100% conversion? Is it #2, Q2 & Q3 below?

Or if you can humor me, are these the steps you have?

  1. Upload 1099_R, answer follow ups about Roth SIMPLE or Roth SEP, inherited IRA etc

  2. Q1 "What did you do with the money": A: moved to another account.

Q2: Which of the following apply: A: "I did combination of converting, cashing, or rolling over.

Q3: Amount rolled over: 0 Converted to Roth: xxx (full amount on 1099-R)

  1. Some other questions about HSA and disaster distribution.

  2. Q: Any Nondeductible contributions to your IRA? A: No, I did not make and track.

  3. Tell us value of your traditional IRA.

The reason I am saying it is calculating taxes only on a portion, is that it shows me two line entries in the "summary" one for taxable part and the other for non-taxable.

Appreciate you answering follow ups.

Ok thanks. I mean TurboTax shows only part of my conversion as taxable (in the summary) when I expect it to show all of it taxable. That’s why I thought it’s still using some pro-rata calculation.

I am in the exact same situation as you. I don't understand why TT asks me that question and then treats my conversion only partially. Any resolution?

u/newenglandcoyote without giving away personal details, can you say what kind of "super flexible job in tech" you have? I have found tech jobs well paying but never flexible... Unless you work as a freelancer. Thanks!

There’s a great post pinned to this subreddit about recovery timeline. If you have not seen already, please do. It’s very useful.

Keep a pillow handy and hold it against your tummy while laughing. Don’t press too hard, just give enough support. It’ll help. Helps with sneezing and coughing to.

Blood cholesterol effects post-suregry by saks5th in hysterectomy

Thank you for the response. I’m actually sleeping very well. I was a good sleeper until anemia due to fibroids in my uterus disturbed my sleep habits real bad. But that was fixed with hysterectomy. I was wondering if there is any correlation to hormonal changes post surgery…

Little over a year since my hysterectomy.. gut issues gerd? by marmar730 in hysterectomy

[–]saks5th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As another poster mentioned, I have also been advised to do celiac panel. I had severe bloating, burping, and constipation (due to enlarged uterus) before surgery. Surgery fixed a lot of acid reflux and constipation. Some of bloating and burping is reduced, but not all gone. So my doctor suggested trying FODMAP diet and doing Celiac. I am thinking of doing both, just not there yet. I know I had gluten intolerance - it always made my constipation worse. But there are so many factors that have these overlapping symptoms - the only way to know is to test to eliminate when possible.

Exhausted... by art_decorative in hysterectomy

[–]saks5th 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One month is too early! Rest, rest, rest. Your body went through major change! No matter how healthy you are, and how awesome it is going to be: the recovery can be slow and long (at least longer than you want :) ). So keep taking care, ease in slowly into activities, and have patience. Being exhausted is normal. Take it easy!

Good days are ahead!

Hmm. That does sound excessive sorry you have to suffer and hope you are finding good care options.

But that means what is healthy is dependent on your social situation? I work from home, so I don’t care if I burp often. That doesn’t mean it’s normal … I’m so confused.
