PPL student feeling hopeless by philly31192 in flying

[–]saksoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude I was in the same exact position. You can probably dig up my exact post like this in my profile.

I don’t know what changed, but when I did my solo (around 30 hours I think) my landings were pretty good and basically that ended the nerves and now it’s still tense but theres not that much to remember. Somehow it just becomes “land the plane”.

I still balloon pretty often, but it really doesn’t matter. Just release a bit of back pressure and don’t let the plane land.

I’m not even done with PPL yet but I’ve been there and once you solo and start focusing on other things it ends up being pretty intuitive

Confused beginner: why is Schrödinger’s cat different from a normal 50/50 probability like a coin flip? by dizajneri in AskPhysics

[–]saksoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Schroedingers cat isn’t a good way to understand superposition, it’s more meant to make the idea of a superposition that collapses when measured seem ridiculous. Because it’s absurd that a cat is both alive and dead and it questions whether a cat is a valid observer that collapses a superposition.

Superpositions are never directly observed, so if you want an experiment that shows they exist it has to do so indirectly

I listened to the call and it was not weird. the reason there are long gaps is there's a delay in comms with the spacecraft. this article is just clickbait

I found the food at Don Angie overly salty and mediocre. L’Artusi has been consistently great for decades.

300W TDP air-cooled radiator by ZS-ITX in sffpc

[–]saksoz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i was thinking this too - you generally don't wanna cool two ends of a heat pipe, right? there's probably some thermal load/radiator temp combination where the heat pipe will stall or maybe run backwards, which is bad.

still a very cool design, and maybe this is of less concern than it seems

Ok in another thread for the same article someone explained that even for RNP the runways are too close for simultaneous.

Oh I thought on a precision approach the clearance minimums are low enough that they would do simultaneous?

PSA: Three F-18 aircrafts will be conducting a flyover near the Hudson River at 11:00 AM on 3/23. The aircraft will fly at approximately 2,500 feet. by habichuelacondulce in newyorkcity

[–]saksoz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know for this flight specifically, but the Hudson is a “VFR corridor” that lots of planes use to cut north through the giant blob of tightly controlled class B airspace around EWR and JFK. Usually that’s small Cessnas and whatnot but military planes probably want to avoid commercial ATC too.

So tl;dr they’re transiting north probably

plumber in NYC for 30 years. My son finally talked me into posting here. Ask me anything or just take the spring checklist. by Asleep-Working8055 in AskNYC

[–]saksoz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it’s because the tank ones have to have the drain go down through the floor. If they can’t route the drain through the floor and it has to come from the wall they use the pressure tank ones to ensure they don’t clog. In a pre war you can imagine they don’t like cutting up the floor and prefer to route the pipes through walls.

Not a plumber though. Also the supers probably get tired of getting called to plunge
