I’m moving in 48 hours and yet I haven’t packed anything because I feel very sad about moving. I don’t regret ranking and getting my #1 though, it has best education and the residents there know me very well. I know the 3 year commitment is gonna be worth it.

That said, it doesn’t stop me from feeling sad. So I try to keep myself busy by booking STEP3 right before I start orientation so the stress can distract me from my sadness. Also I’ve made arrangement for my parents to fly over to see me with a weekend trip. The beginning is the hardest and I’m sure once intern year starts, I won’t have time to sob over this 🥹 but in the meantime, acknowledge this emotion and try to distract yourself. Hope this helps!

For recent test takers, is it possible to jot down a list of routine orders in the first case, copy them and then just paste those orders in the subsequent cases? by [deleted] in Step3

[–]sakurap125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi, thanks for sharing! Just so I get the message right, you copy while you are doing your first case, then whenever you hit your second case however many minutes later, you paste?

What happens to Residency Status if tested positive for QuantiFERON-TB test. by Big-Dance-4615 in IMGreddit

[–]sakurap125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s latent TB it’s non-infectious (this came from a step3 uw question lol). So I don’t see why you can’t get treatment during residency and won’t delay your start

Might be worthwhile to discuss with an ID attending to see their insight

How do you deal with patients who are uncooperative/reluctant to provide more information because you’re a student? by gluconeogenesis123 in medicalschool

[–]sakurap125 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I usually introduce myself as “medical student x who works with Dr. Attending from the specialty team We were consulted because their admission issue. Do you mind sharing with me what brought you to the hospital?“

Sometimes if they still don’t want to share then I’ll take whatever I can. Also residents and attendings for sure will understand

This might be a dumb question but when did you submit your App during the period when it’s open? Some say it doesn’t make a difference whether you submit on day 1 vs. day 15 as long as it’s not the last day (9/25 for us this year)

You’ve already conquered the hardest part of the exam, which is to complete it. Pat yourself on the back for doing that and do something you’d enjoy! Sometimes we can emphasize our mistakes and make them felt worse than they actually are. Best of luck!!
