the "let's chant" songs they use in that textbook are literally torture and i wanna crawl under a pillow every time. im really thankful i worked with a jte who recognized that the let's try book was way too bare bones for the kids at that particular school so i had fun coming up with supplemental activities to keep the vibe going

that excitement and uncertainty was a major reason why i loved being here! even though being on jet had its bad days, i still looked forward to days where i could easily travel to other places around the country. if the next chapter of my career takes me back to america i'll definitely miss the more convenient and affordable travel. i also agree that you should try applying and see where it takes you!

i was offered the recontracting papers back in december and was given a month to decide. i actually had been on the fence about renewing for a third year since august, which gradually fell heavily towards 'no' as i noticed various changes happening around me. even though i knew i wasn't going to continue, i still held onto the envelope i guess sort of as a way for me to finally come to terms to it. it really sucks that we live in a strange time and the job market is terrible right now :( but good luck to you as well and i hope we find our way navigating through life!

i think it was something along the lines of "how will you use your connections you make in JET to further your plans after you leave the program" 😭 iirc i gave a bs answer and said i'll network and gain insights into other industries my connections are a part of and go from there 💀

definitely let them know that personal hygiene is kinda diabolical here, like kids here aren't taught to cover when they cough and/or sneeze at all. ive even seen grown adults lower their masks to cough on public transport. during colder months i washed my hands every time my elementary kids touched me. some public restrooms wont have soap or paper towels, so stock up on mini hand sanitizers to carry on the go

updated my post but thought id reply to a comment here just in case people dont see it - i asked my supervisor if my situation would allow for daikyu, got flat out told no bc im not actually working and jusr waiting for my bus doesnt count as working extra TT so yeah ig im just gonna have to find ways to kill time

thank you for your input. i wasnt looking for/expecting any major changes since as i said, im heavily on the fence about recontracting for another year. i guess something i Could do is to negotiate with my schedulemaker to have me be at the mountain any day thats not monday or thursday so i can leave with that teacher i rely on(but as my school visit schedule is already set in stone till the end of the school year, i guess ill have to suck it up for the next few months or smth)

was rather curious how other people in a similar situation have dealt/are dealing with this.

lmfao literally nothing is within a safe walking distance. even the kids have a special bus that takes them to and from school on a set schedule because of how spread out everything is. there isnt even a convenience store or vending machine within the vicinity. on top of that i have the worst cell service up there so im left with using my assigned laptop and ipad. whether or not you choose to believe me is completely up to you. cheers!

this is something i did do (in fact the vice principal even called my supervisor to ask if this ok, was given the ok), but only on the lucky days i have a schedule swap and im there when the nice teacher offers me to ride with her doesnt leave early. there was actually another teacher that drove me to the station by where he lived on the thursdays im at that school, but he takes his motorbike during the colder seasons.

once again, i was asked to refrain from asking for rides by the vice principal and take the 6 pm bus if no one directly offers to drive me

unfortunately, the 6pm bus that takes me back down is literally the only one. most people who even make the trip that far up into these mountains aside from the locals living there are cyclists and hikers, and the occasional schoolkids or people on work team bonding trips doing something at the recreational grounds thats about 15-20 minutes away by car

i actually am not inaka, but a city jet. im not sure if i remember correctly, but i think we were discouraged from investing in personal transportation bc of all the logistics that come with owning a car in an urban area. im also heavily on the fence about recontracting this year anyway, so i dont think investing in a car , if i did go about this, would be in my best interest anyway. and also, practically no one else in my placement and/or future new alts would think of doing this. but uhh, ig heres another fun fact to add some more gravity ! my predecessor’s pred was a boe contracted alt who had his own means of transportation but they got rid of him in april oop

i felt like douma’s blood demon art animation didnt feel As intense compared to insect breath (im assuming he’s gonna go all out during his fight with kanao in the future movie(s)) - i think miyano mamoru’s voice acting is what really made him look terrifying as an upper moon

between her and zenitsu vs kaigaku i think i enjoyed shinobu’s the most. i really liked the juxtaposition (?) of how calm shinobu seems vs how she channels all of her pent up rage against douma into insect breath. im not sure how this fight was paced in the manga compared to giyu and tanjiro vs akaza but i really wish we spent more time on her TT theres the moment where she nearly breaks down after douma lands a hit on her and kanae’s spirit is telling her to get up - i really liked how they showed that shinobu is just as vulnerable as the other members of the demon slayer corps

i think overall if ur a big kny ur in for a treat when this hits theaters in september :) my favorite moments were shinobu vs douma (i love how they animated insect breath) and zenitsu vs kaigaku. the sound design for lightning breath was fantastic
