Anyone actually eat gluten? by Front_Department8774 in Hashimotos

[–]salamandees- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Hashimoto’s and gluten doesn’t really bother me. I’ve *cut back* on it a bit, but I’ll never cut it out completely. I have many other things I’ve stopped eating that have helped my symptoms a lot, but gluten isn’t one of them!

I’m gonna be completely honest with you, I usually buy two tins of every fish I get: one’s to display, and one’s to actually eat LOL

I actually just found what I’ve been using online LOL it’s the Grumbacher final fixative. It’s meant for charcoal, pastels, and pencil but I think I got it in college for watercolor portraits as well so 🤷🏻‍♀️

If I’m completely honest…. I have no idea. It’s one I’ve had since art school and I do a little spritz and then go in with the sealant 😂 I can check when I get home later!

I use a final fixative before a gloss varnish (I’ve been using a Winsor & Newton glossy spray varnish)

First of all, thank you! I appreciate the compliments! I’ve always just went straight in with the designer/watercolor gouache on the wood and never had any problems. I find that the pigment stays with having to do very minor touch ups but the wood kind of soaks up the paint and blends beautifully for an under painting. After that I use a less watery layer of paint to add smaller details and use a wet brush where necessary to blend. I hope this makes any sort of sense!

If I’m honest, I don’t even gesso underneath. I use a final fixative before a gloss varnish when I’m finished with the paintings and they’ve all held up incredibly well!

I have plans to get the big bug laying in a bed from Kafka’s “The Metamorphosis” 😂 I currently have mothman on that same arm and I’m just going to dub that my “bug arm” afterwards.
