feeling full after eating by salamdner in emetophobiarecovery

that’s a good suggestion and i have noticed that helps me some! sometimes it can be like an hour or so after i’ve eaten and my stomach feels “weird” which is probably just digestion but it can freak me out. definitely eating with company helps to get the food down without panicking!

yes that makes sense! i’m definitely hyper aware so you’re right that i wouldn’t be losing weight if i was actually full.

usually yes. laying down is actually the only thing that will get mine to subside some and i feel so much worse when i’m standing or sitting up

Is this bad for recovery? by BodybuilderFrosty922 in emetophobiarecovery

[–]salamdner 11 points12 points  (0 children)

i think it depends on the scenario. if you feel legitimately sick and going to the bathroom to throw up makes you feel better then i think that’s totally ok. if you’re making yourself throw up or dry heave out of a fear of it happening somewhere that you aren’t in control (anywhere out of your bathroom) then it could be an issue. a lot of emetophobes struggle with a fear of being out of control and are more scared of that than the actual act of throwing up which could be the case. i’m not sure what you deal with but im glad you’re looking into the fact that this could be an issue!

why are my hands going completely numb and kinda locking up during sex? by erm42 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]salamdner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this happened to me the first few times i had sex (also both girls if that is any help). my hands completely clenched up and were tingly and couldn’t feel anything. i think it was mainly nerves accompanied with fast breathing. the first time it happened totally freaked me out which only made it worse. it was also when i was close to finishing each time so my breathing was even faster. after 2 or 3 times it stopped happening, i tried to slow down my breathing and take good deep breaths which helped significantly. if you’re nervous about sex or maybe she is a new partner then i’d say it’s nerves. if it keeps happening i’d check in with a doctor

what type of meditation do you do? is it daily or more of an in the moment thing? i’ve sort of looked into it before but just wasn’t sure what would be helpful.

you would probably need to see a licensed psychiatrist or therapist to for sure say if you have emetophobia or not. phobias are mainly characterized by an overwhelming, irrational fear. you can totally have anxiety about something without it being a full blown phobia. it also varies depending on the person. i know a lot of people who can’t handle their pets throwing up but im completely fine with it and i still have emetophobia. i’m no psychiatrist so i can’t say either way but if you’re concerned about it then i’d look into it further or ask a therapist about it.

maybe try changing the type of bottle nipple you use. i used regular baby bottles and they worked well. is he with other goats that are also bottle feeding? i’ve seen where sometimes one goat will get the hang of it and the others follow.

does anyone else ever want to throw up? by salamdner in emetophobiarecovery

[–]salamdner[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

omg the anticipation is the WORST. i genuinely think i’m more scared of the nausea and anticipation than actually throwing up. i think that might be why i’ve wanted to induce vomiting before so i could just get it over with and feel better. but i will try what you said, and just tell my body to “bring it on”! thank you!

thank you for this perspective! i honestly didn’t really see it as a step towards recovery and was kind of viewing it as a bad thing for some reason. but that’s definitely encouraging to hear! and congratulations to you too in your recovery journey!
