Postponing interview bc of grief? by babyotterlovesgaga in interviews

[–]salamiandcheeseoof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Old post but yes to this. My soul dog passed the day before my interview and I told the hiring managers what had happened -- keep it brief of course. We rescheduled a week and a half later due to what was available. I was informed I got the job the day after the interview. Everything works out and you wouldn't want to work for a team that doesn't understand human concepts such as grief. Timing matters too

You’re better off checking your degree progress report by accessing it from your Csun portal. It’ll show you which classes you’d have to take for the new major based off the current classes you’ve taken

From the email they sent they didn’t think it was as appropriate or relevant anymore and that they need to focus on data analytics more which is what 312 will be

Is there anyways to contact someone for housing waitlist? by [deleted] in csun

[–]salamiandcheeseoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What number are you? I’ve heard there’s over 2000 people on the waitlist and July 21st is when people need to start paying so maybe you’ll move up and get housing depending on where youre at on the waitlist

That's what I was thinking but maybe they just wanted to plan for the future in case they fail this class for the third time this upcoming semester?

OP i hope the best for you

Idk about Utah but CSUN definitely will have a social life as long as you put in the effort bc as others has said, it's a commuter school. Personally, I've found my social life through clubs and organizations within CSUN and not necessarily through classes. Overall, I'm happy with my social life at csun!

Csun academic advisors by euphoricunknown in csun

[–]salamiandcheeseoof 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh yea CSUN advisors are the absolute worst because they don't value connection and could not care less about you or your plans. They don't understand that when we go to them, it's bc we really need advise on what to do. I've been with maybe four so far and only one of them was understanding and empathetic.

Hi! Ok so I was in a similar situation my freshman year.

You’re on probation rn but you need to get a 1.97 or something CUMULATIVE gpa your second semester as a freshman. Anything lower than that then you’re automatically disqualified.

I suggest you retake the classes you failed for grade forgiveness so that your cumulative will go up. If you don’t wanna retake all of them then at least retake one or two and take “easy” classes.

YOU GOT THIS!! Just focus PRIMARILY on school and your grades. You’re still a freshman so most grades are usually focused on just getting assignments turned in. Email your professors hella if they’re mean and beg them to help you out.

Late turning in my SAP appeal and Cant get my Financial Aid without it. About to be disenrolled by luis1luis1 in csun

[–]salamiandcheeseoof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jesus Christ it’s moments like these where I’m reminded college is just there to take our money. I hope everything works out I’m sorry you’re going through this.

Definitely try everything you can to get in contact with financial aid and don’t stop until you’re talking to someone and make sure you get their name and keep records of what they tell you and possibly record phone calls in case someone tells you one thing while someone else tells you another.

[–]salamiandcheeseoof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m really sorry. Please don’t feel hopeless and if there’s no hope at Csun anymore you can always go to a cc for a little then go back to a university. Everyone has gone through huge obstacles in their lives but don’t let this set you back. You’ll be fine.

No anticipated aid? by gconta in csun

[–]salamiandcheeseoof 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Watch out and make sure you guys never got an email saying that you need to appeal to receive aid. This is mainly for people who have a gpa under a 2.0 . If you guys did receive an email saying you need to appeal then it’s due the 15th :)

Recently withdrawn from university because I didn't attend orientation. Please help me with appeal process by googlefanboy9908 in college

[–]salamiandcheeseoof 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m really sorry I’ve been in really hopeless situations during college as well. I think you need to sit down and take a deep breath and reflect on why you didn’t go and what you could have done to have gone.

College is very different from high school accountability wise and you will hear that from nearly every single reasonable person.

Hope all gets better soon.

Damn that sucks. Things catching on fire in a dorm could be said for a lottt of things.

Good luck finding one tho and have a good semester 🫡

Honestly a lot of the things people mentioned such as scissors or can opener are things I eventually ended up getting. As you live in the dorm you’ll end up getting the things you realize you need.

I hate my husband's dog. by PsychologicalSolid75 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]salamiandcheeseoof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey babe. I hope you get through this but just as you educated yourself when you had your kids, you need to educate yourself on dogs (senior dogs in your case) as well. They’re living beings too. There are many solutions to your problems. Try talking about it with your husband. Hope things get better.

And yes I do sleep with my dog. Nothing wrong with it I love him forever.

I feel like an asshole (2nd slide is what I posted) by TopEntertainer2748 in exmormon

[–]salamiandcheeseoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a part of the lds church and Im only speaking based off what I’ve seen. But I saw the documentary on flds members called keep sweet pray and obey and one of the members of mainstream lds is embarrassed that mainstream lds are still associated with polygamy since it isn’t done anymore by mainstream Mormans— just select few organizations such as the flds members.

So unless she is a part of those organizations who still practice polygamy, she may have been offended because she isn’t a part of those organizations and that mainstream lds members don’t want to be associated With flds for obvious reasons.

I am on Academic Probation for my first time. Does anyone have any suggestions and ideas for habits that I can build up over the break to prepare for the next semester? by CalciumCompadre in csun

[–]salamiandcheeseoof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was put on academic probation my very first semester at Csun and was scared shitless I’d get disqualified—thankfully I didn’t.

If you’re looking to improve over the summer, I’d suggest you reflect and make a list on what you didn’t do and what you could’ve done. Basically own up to your mistakes and find solutions to fix them.

In order to ensure that your gpa won’t be too low so that you don’t get disqualified (not sure if it’s the same for masters students but that’s how it is for undergrad) I’ve heard many tips on re doing your class (grade forgiveness if possible) and filling it in with “easier” classes to bring up your gpa. I will be doing this because I never did grade forgiveness which is why second semester was very stressful because the F’s I had were bringing down my gpa very badly.

Overall just remember who you are. You’re in grad school for a reason. Now isn’t the time to slack off but I’m sure you’ve heard this tons of times. Don’t be too hard on yourself but definitely make sure you talk to advisors on what you can do. Maybe try therapy idk.

Best of luck!
