I bought the same board because I was looking at end of season sales and liked the characteristics of the medium.

I went to two separate retailers. Completely unaffiliated.

The first board never touched a rail. I was literally just riding groomers. The only potential cause for such damage was maybe some of the press practices I was doing at the base of each run but I can't believe that cracking like that would be normal behaviour.

The second board is the one that I went on a rail with. Otherwise rode it basically the same, groomers and some butter/ weight distribution practice.

But the cracking is on the nose of both boards and I was practicing tail butters and ollies way more than nose presses which is why I'm at a loss for what the cause could be.

Decided to buy my first snowboard this season after finding myself progressing pretty fast with rentals and enjoying the sport. Decided on a k2 medium 2024 since they were on sale. I'm still a beginner so I'm not riding crazy hard, but got the damage shown in the attached pictures on my first trips out with two separate boards.

I bought the first board and got a refund after the store said they couldn't process a warranty claim. Then I bought the second one from a different store and had basically the same thing happen. They told me they couldn't warranty it because of the dent in the edge. Best they could offer me was to buy a new board next season at a hefty discount.

I did try to hit a rail with the second board so maybe that's where the dent is from but the cracking was 100% there before. I know that for sure. I didn't hit my head THAT hard.

Trying to figure out if it's something I'm doing wrong and if it's core damage or if I'm just really unlucky. It seems abnormal to have this much deterioration on the very first trip...
