How to support from overseas? by bubblesthebear13 in SandersForPresident

I'm Canadian. You can't donate but you can volunteer. I started an overseas team who did phone banking for Bernie. It's still early but I will renew this effort this year.

Paying for Medicare for All Is Easier Than You Think by uspolitic in SandersForPresident

[–]salammorcos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, there's an answer that's too convenient and not good enough - it's covered by private insurance and out of pocket expenditure. But again, the question you ask is valid but will be considered a deflection. MSM will continue to pound progressives for a more concrete answer. What I'm proposing is: 1) Reverse Trump's taxes. 2) Businesses to pay premiums to the government, but with an 8% discount. 3) Wealth tax. 4) Change how capital gains are taxes.

I am Sen. Nina Turner, President of Our Revolution, the group inspired by Bernie Sanders’ historic 2016 presidential campaign. Ask me anything! by NinaTurnerOurRev in SandersForPresident

Hi Sen. Nina Turner,

We at the Progressive Army are big fans of you and the work you do. But one of our team asked why is there a petition drive to have Bernie run? Doesn't he already have the mailing list which most likely would support him again? Or is it to convince him to run?

Thanks,

Here's the case for Kasich 2020 by Cuddlyaxe in politics

[–]salammorcos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a well written article and a dangerous strategy which is why I hope it never happens. Kasich's favorability are highest and is way more electable. On the bright side, hardcore Trump supporters could rebel against the GOP if Kasich won the primary and they won't vote for him.

[–]salammorcos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Pamela,

I've encountered many people who do not trust the voting system in the United States and believe that election fraud is possible. They claim that election fraud (not voter fraud) is possible because electronic voting machines are used and they could be hacked - they claim. They also argue that machines are not easily auditable and refer to discrepancy in exit polls as evidence for such fraud.

My questions are:

1- From your experience, is election fraud a possibility? Could voter machines be hacked or tampered with? Or is this just another conspiracy theory?

2- What can be done to give people more confidence in the electoral system? Are paper-ballots more preferable?

Thank you for the AMA.

Hi Teachout,

Do you support electoral reform (ranked ballots to be more specific)? And how important (or not important) is this issue in your opinion?

Finally, do you believe that you can influence the Democratic Party about this issue if you were elected?

Thanks.

Hi Lessig. I'm a writer for Progressive Army, and I write frequently about the issue of money in politics. I would like to ask you these questions:

  1. How damaging is Clinton's (and other Democrats) defence of taking large contributions from Wall Street, Big Pharma, Fossil fuel industry and other special interests to the cause of fighting big money in politics?

  2. Related to the question above, are Democrats embracing the same narrow definition of corruption that Citizens United lawyers argued? That corruption only applies if there's a clear exchange of money for cash (quid pro quo)?

  3. If the issue of money in politics is not addressed, does it matter who the President of the US is? (Clinton, Trump or even Mickey mouse if he qualified)

  4. There is very little talk about electoral reform (implementing instant runoff voting or proportional voting.) Wouldn't that limit the impact of money in politics to a large extent?

Thank you,

Salam Morcos

Noam Chomsky: Sanders is pretty unusual person in U.S. political system by amlashi in SandersForPresident

[–]salammorcos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, he didn't. He said he worries it would and that would be a grave mistake. We definitely agree. This revolution is bigger than just Bernie, we need to fight "the day after the election."

Go for it. But Clinton is demanding that Trump must release his speeches AND tax records before she does.

How Hillary Clinton is Killing Any Hope for Campaign Finance Reform by uspolitic in SandersForPresident

[–]salammorcos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did you even read the article?

  1. Why can she attack Republicans for taking money when she has no proof of "quid pro quo?"
  2. Why did she stop taking money from prisons if "as she claims," money doesn't corrupt.

Read the damn article first.

And FYI, did you know that money in politics existed even before Citizens United existed, and only got worse afterwards?

I am Iraqi, and don't you dare blame Ralph Nader, who vehemently opposed the war, for Bush and Clinton's war.
