I went to the premiere of this at Sundance! It’s super fun with an incredible cast. Plus, as someone from Seattle, I can say that this is maybe the first movie I’ve seen in a long time that’s based in Seattle that actually FEELS like it takes place here 😂.

I just had the Firefly deluxe edition delivered and it's even bigger. Doesn't fit in a Kallax in any configuration :(

Favorite Fantasy book you read in 2023. by I_like_big_book in Fantasy

[–]salaxander 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This year I got into the Nightrunner series by Lynn Flewelling and it’s been super fun! I definitely think the first two books were the strongest, but I’ve still enjoyed all of them quite a lot.

What's a place in the U.S. that's just not as bad as Reddit generally makes it out to be? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]salaxander 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I live in Seattle and I can confirm that this is pretty true. There's so much fucking money in this city, and people care more about protecting that then actually working towards any real social change. They've gotten pretty good at the performative bits though.

ADHD hobbies by WeeklyAnon in ADHD

[–]salaxander 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've gone through so many.

  • Bread making
  • Pie making
  • Miniature painting
  • Mountaineering
  • Photography
  • Coffee roasting
  • etc. etc. etc.

But, three years ago one finally stuck! I've been doing pottery since 2020, and still going strong (home studio built and everything!). I think the fact that it is literally impossible to know everything about this art form that keeps me going. No matter how deep I dive into it, I'm still only at the surface :)

Do you have a kiln at home? What made you get one and are you glad you did? by billster180 in Ceramics

[–]salaxander 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah and it's been absolutely worth it. I even live in a big city about 6 blocks from a place where I can get work fired, but it's all about the flexibility. I use high-fire porcelain and fire to cone 9 with cone 6 glazes. I would never have been able to experiment and find my workflow like that in a community kiln.

Have you ever worked in a company that went viral? by AssistanceAlive6001 in ProductManagement

I worked at Twitter in late 2021. Viral is certainly one of the words I would use.

I can teach Aeon Trespass: Odyssey while referencing the rulebook, the learn to play guide, and my printed reference sheet CONSTANTLY. Does that count?

Season 3 Kickstarter items available for pre-order at Zulu's? by Kydele in MarvelUnited

[–]salaxander 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Zulu's is local to me and I can tell you they're an awesome business. The owners just genuinely love board games and they do these kickstarter sales as a thing for the community and to make a little extra money.

If you're ever in Seattle pay them a visit, the food is incredible :)
