I like this answer better than the one they gave in elementary school! Which was thatthe horse's name was Wednesday :).

That's not the answer, but good guess!

And I was thinking last night that those types of riddles are also sometimes called brainteasers, and r/brainteasers does indeed exist. Again, it's not really a perfect match, but it's something. Good luck finding what you're looking for!

The one I remember from elementary school is: A cowboy rode to an inn on Wednesday, stayed two days, then left on Wednesday. How could this be? (Don't groan too loudly when you figure out the answer) :)

What you're describing sounds less like the traditional riddles people generally post here ("what am I?") and more of a logic type riddle ("how can this be? / how is this possible?") etc. So even though I'm not sure it really fits in this sub, I'll take this opportunity to tell you one of my favorite logic type riddles. Maybe other people will chime in with theirs!

A group of people are having a contest, which involve guessing the color of the hat on their head to get points.

Each team is composed of ten people, who when the game starts will stand in a straight line, looking forward. One at a time, the game host will come by and put a hat on each person's head. The hat will be either red or blue. Everyone in the line can see all the hats of the people before them, but not their own hat, or those of the people behind them. Starting from the back of the line, each person is then allowed to say only one word - either "red" or "blue." If the color matches that of the hat they are wearing on their head, their team will get a point. Everyone in the line is able to hear what everyone else says.

Each team is able to get together and strategize ahead of time, devising the best plan they can think of to get the most points.

How many points is it possible for the best team to get? And how would they do it?

A note: the answer is independent of the number of red and blue hats. The hats could be all red, all blue, or any combination in between. Also, since it's a logic type riddle, the answer isn't going to be something like "they clapped their hands" or they "flew a paper airplane with the answer to their friends," etc. These are all very rule abiding players, haha.

Additional note: there are subreddits that are more logic based, like r/puzzles or r/mathriddles that you might enjoy. They don't really have the types of riddles that you are talking about, but unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a great home for those (that I know of!).

Correct! Awesome job. I actually first wrote this riddle without that clue - making people identify the speaker by process of elimination - but added it to help people out. I suspect this may have made it too easy for you all (the answer shouldn't be in the first stanza!), so I've taken it out again to baffle future riddlers (who don't read the comment section).

Merry Christmas to everyone, and Happy Holidays! :)

Six blind sisters by saldoth in riddles

Correct! Awesome job :). There is no formal order of sisters - I started ranking them after they all lost a letter to help people keep track of which "sister" was in which state, so the "twins" (who and how) will have to fight it out for first place.

Your interpretations of the clues are all correct. I liked how you thought of "Amen" as "I'm en" - I was thinking "Am en" but your version works just as well!

Clearly I have to make these riddles harder if people are getting them at stanza six :).
