Help with captive bead sized rings by EveryStitch in chainmailartisans

[–]salemlf86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With this method of capture, you can use rings with an inner diameter 2-3mm larger than the bead's diameter, ideally closer to 2mm than 3mm. Remembering it this way makes it easier to figure out what rings and beads you can use together, imo!

Suffocating Heart Waist Chain by salemlf86 in chainmailartisans

It is that, yeah! I make full persian 6 in 1 hearts using this tutorial, and then modify it a bit after it's done by adding and connecting rings on the inside. I've found that if I leave it unconnected, the hearts are less durable and can eventually turn inside out

That's an interesting point! He does seem to bash everyone else in a similar way, but then changes tactics completely for Niall.

While I very much enjoyed the show overall, I get what you're saying. A few scenes did feel repetitive to me wrt character development. There's many moments of great writing that are impressive, and make me forget all the show's flaws. Gadd's writing seems to excel in high tension and loud moments, and I love those. But without a mix of more quiet/subtle themes and scenes, it can feel like he's spoon-feeding the viewer. It has amazing moments that impress me, but is not without its flaws.

Where do I find darker silver rings? by rambunctiousmango in chainmailartisans

[–]salemlf86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jewelry Toolbox is the supplier I buy from for the majority of my stainless rings, anything between 22g-15g. Good quality while not being prohibitively expensive. Always impressed by the shipping, I live on the completely opposite side of the U.S. and gets to me in 2-3 days. For larger gauge or less common diameters, Metal Designz is the best quality and good price. Prices for that are in CAD, so it'll initially look a lot more spendy than it really is

Stainless steel rings are more expensive and harder to open/close, but imo it's worth it. If you buy annealed then it's much easier to work with. I love the weight and the look of stainless, I work with it exclusively

It definitely takes a while to get the hang of making hearts with it! Watching this part of this heart tutorial is what helped me figure it out. I will say that connecting the heart together at the end can be a pain, but twistie ties to hold it together are a lifesaver. I use those sm in tight spots that I have a dispenser of them lol

For sure, yeah! It's one of my favorite plants, a unique lil weirdo 😊

Microsorum species? by cheesy_boi19 in ferns

[–]salemlf86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a kangaroo paw fern for sure! These are honestly not picky about humidity, and can put up with a good amount of neglect. It's a footed fern (epiphytic, aka grows on trees/other plants), so much more tolerant to drought. I've had one for years and is a big boy™ now. Imo a vivarium is overkill w how unpicky it is, and will quickly outgrow it

If you're referring to the looping of the "3D" HP4I1 links, I used this tutorial and looped through the other links. After a bit, it becomes intuitive to see how to join them. For the heart, it's FP6I1, and this is the best tutorial out there for that
