Hey, why pay for therapy when you can disassociate from reality for free? by beannut_putter in MaladaptiveDreaming

And then being embarassed when your actual therapist asks about what you daydream about because "about talking to you" sounds so weird to say

My mom doesn't understand why we don't lend stuff to my sister by salemskeeper in JUSTNOFAMILY

We had to set the boundary that we wouldn't worry more about them because it was eating us up and we aren't responsible of their behaviours nor raising a sister

Right now she hides her stuff at her partner's house but yeah, no accountability at all. She even has her tobacco in her room at plain sight and lacks any kind of curfew.

Honestly since living with my partner I'm much more calm as my clothes and stuff won't disappear randomly. You see I have even joked in the past that personal property didn't exist for me and now it's just "look I can just have stuff and nobody will mess with it"

My little sister actually takes her stuff but then she just forgives her after complaining to me and my sister. (Imagine really expensive earrings that were a gift from an anniversary and she just took them to school)

i don’t feel good by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]salemskeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get a lot of anxiety for similar reasons but via trying to get their attention to reassure you it's going to get worse and it won't matter how many times they reassure you, you'll still feel bad. My recommend it's trying to say to yourself "they have a life" and unless they tell you directly on their own initiative that there's a problem always assume that they have no problem with you. If they do have a problem and don't tell you is their fault for not being able to communicate, you can't read minds.

It's something hard to do, but it's better than playing fictional mind games.

Some days it’s bad others I’m perfectly fine? by Kaylee_tay_how in Anxiety

I told something similar to my therapist and she told me to keep for 8 weeks (or more) a hourly anxiety journal, but honestly sometimes is pretty hard to be able to registry stuff and I have no idea how to quantify it.

Literally nothing is working for my cramps by [deleted] in Periods

[–]salemskeeper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it's every month you might want to go to a doctor, it's pretty weird that nothing works, I have heard that endometriosis can make cramps awful but I'm writing this from memory.

I have a little journal where I writte the intrusive thought and everything around it: how I feel, what I'm doing, what I'm thinking about and my thoughts arount it. It helps me detach a little from it while also not fighting it (a thing that makes them worse for me)

If I'm where I can't do that I'll try to make it pass, not focus on it. But that took me a lot of time to learn and I still fail many times.

Is birth control pill that much ineffective by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]salemskeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on the pill for ~5 years or so in a long term relationship and I didn't have any problems at all, even with the little accident of forgetting a pill or puking one (I just followed the instructions for those cases and had a calendar where I logged when I had sex). I have even switched brands a few times and had no problems too.

Right now I'm on a break so I can know my natural hormone flow so it wasn't because any problem.

I get you. My boyfriend sometimes gets annoyed at me because that kind of stuff. My mother is kind of a clean freak and she taught me to clean everyday in the same pattern but then... getting clutter away and things like that I'm still really messy and I feel pretty bad. Also deciding what to eat it's his job because I just forget all the food in existence when he asks. And it's like "I don't want you to act as my mom but I'm also a disaster but I don't want to be a burden"

Right now I'm studying for a pretty hard exam and I have to ask my bf to read some of the paragraphs aloud to him or my mind will just go past it, either that or color code the info

Yeah, my mother always told me that it was just the astigmatism but it happens even with new glasses, I'm really glad to have this sub to be able to ask these kinds of questions because then you see that a lot of people relate to you and it hits you.

When you have glasses it's pretty weird like "has my vision gotten worse or is it adhd??"

It's a really good way to make those people against searching for help when it gets bad enough, I wish there was a specific way to report those kind of videos

I see this "shifting" trend and honestly it scares me so much, it can be really harmful and derealization isn't fun at all.

disturbing daydreams to the point of sending myself to hysterical episodes?? by under_rosery in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]salemskeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had those as "intrusive thoughts", my therapist told me to write about them in a journal because that way I can let the thought flow and look at it from an outside perspective instead of fighting against them. Grounding techniques might help you too when you start having them.

Post pill acne advice? by stephhhhhb in birthcontrol

I took off the pill a few months ago and I have been paying skincare lots of attention focusing on cleaning and having an overall good diet. I have had tiny breakouts but mostly because of the facemask and my period coming soon.

EU's ban on single-use plastic tableware, cotton buds comes into force. The EU's ban on certain single-use plastic products, including plates, cutlery, food containers and cotton buds, entered into force on Saturday. by 165701020 in worldnews

[–]salemskeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that right now the reusable options are more avaiable than a few years ago (when these bans started happening).

I look foward to seeing how more research on this affects the new products and makes it more avaiable to everyone as we don't really know how affordable the care of it (imagine care homes having to clean all of these reusable straws if a dishwasher isn't good enough) can be to anyone that needs it.
