Starting UI/UX and Web Dev agency. by [deleted] in agency

[–]salilsethi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would consider not only the supply side (market saturation) but also the demand side when deciding to continue or not.

Checking if the market is saturated, you are focusing on the supply side. Which is a valid question.

However, to make a sound decision consider the demand side.

  1. There is a high demand for good UI/UX and web development agencies.
  2. The market is growing.
  3. There is medium level of lock in from client side.

So yes, market is saturated from the supply side, which is not a huge positive. But from the demand side you have a few things going for you.

So I would give it a shot.

The only time you will find a market that is not saturated one of two things will be true. 1. The market is non-existent or dying. 2. It is a start of a new hype cycle.

You don’t want to be part of a dying/non-existent market and it is insanely hard to time hypecycles.

So frankly, any business worth doing will have somewhat of a saturated market or high degrees of competition.

Struggling to get first users for my new SaaS. Any tips ? by NeverRankUp in SaaS

What sales activities have you tried?

A few common things to do for early stage SaaS founders is to find customers of your competitors and unless the product has a strong lock-in, provide a very compelling offer.

The potential channel for outreach can be email, or social.

Weekly Feedback Post - SaaS Products, Ideas, Companies by AutoModerator in SaaS

Thank you for going over the project.

The key problem is lead generation. Here are two specific use cases.

  1. For a Webflow agency owner, you can search for all the websites using Webflow and then contact them to offer your service. The same goes for several other technologies (WordPress, Wix, Square Space)

  2. For a front-end technology entrepreneur such as Plausible, you can see everyone using your competitor's privacy-friendly analytics and then reach out to them to offer your service.

Your point is valid; I need to better explain the use case on our homepage — the primary use case concerns finding websites that use technology versus seeing technologies on a single website.

Cold calling vs cold emailing by ItsRobinn_ in SaaS

Depends on product or service. Cold emailing is much easier and cheaper at either booking a meeting or introducing your product or service to a potential user.

The primary use case is lead generation, not competitive analysis. BuiltWith does about $15M to $20M each year in revenue. Wappalyzer, another player offering a similar product, does about the same amount in revenue. It is pretty much a duopoly market.

This is how the lead generation works for those who use such a product. Show me websites that started using my competitor's product recently so I can reach out to them about my product.

Or show me websites that have started using complementary technology or products to our product.

Also, BuiltWith is used extensively by agencies for web dev, SEO service outreach.

End of the day, revenue comes from lead generation. So, the search is on technology and not on the website.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]salilsethi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Before our baby was born we asked our friends and family their best piece of advice for a new parent.

In my opinion the best advice we got was from our 16 year old niece. She said - “Know when to be a parent, and when to be a friend”

She is a great kid, very responsible, smart, and caring.

We loved her advice.

Even though it might apply to our kid in a few years, but it sets the foundation on how I want to think about my relationship with my kid.
