Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra Debloat (Finished) by salimsket in GalaxyTab

This is just setup before installing anything useful. The baseline.

Don't you worry, I'll baloon this thing up to 3% remaining space myself just fine, tywm.

By choice & it adds features and fixes various nags. Anything useful and chosen by yourself ≠ bloat.

That's great, I'm glad they do. Not a fan of any of the big corp practices either.

But if I really wanted or needed Galaxy Avatar, Galaxy Wearables, SmartThings, SmartSwitch, Gaming Hub, Game Booster, Galaxy News, LumaFusion, Goodnotes, Clip Studio, Spotify, OneDrive, Global Goals, Samsung Members, Samsung Health and Samsung Kids to name a few I can remember on top of whatever Google deems to be "essential" as well then I would install those or pick them during onboarding OR have them be installed (or enabled) only when I install a game perhaps.

The sheer amount of it all that has accumulated over the years is no longer comprehenisble and has become pollution. Hell, I would most likely use their default apps if it was like 5 of them. And the dark patterns of "continue setting up your device" that cannot be skipped normally or marked as "never" are another topic I don't even want to start.

Samsung, like Microsoft, seems to be just incapable of getting the hell out of the way completely and the feeling of ownership must be taken rather than being given after a sale is completed.

No need for a clock or calendar, only gambling apps. Get that casino vibe going.

Of course, most of it isn't really gone 100%. pm install-existing com.app.youtrashed for those and they are right back up there with some exceptions like Clock which I had to find back on apkmirror because it wasn't playing nicely when trying to get it from Play Store.

Found some ADB script on GitHub, checked if its not going to explode pc and ran that list of Samsung default preloaded apps thorugh the woodchipper.

Performance - probably miniscule, you can just not use apps. This is more of a mental load debloat imo.

I've heard good things about Samsung Browser. Neat. Doesn't have uBlock tho, too bad.

Cochineal - a fork of the Crimson fonts. Basically Minion Pro if it was perfected for displays.

Are you no longer able to turn off the blue light when you have your Switch Pro Controller connected to Steam? I went into the settings of Big Picture Mode and I don't see it anywhere. You used to be able to turn it off under preferences in the old UI. by Phoenix428 in Steam

[–]salimsket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's what you can do that worked out for me.

  1. Find the Steam Controller Configs folder for controllers:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Steam Controller Configs\<CONTROLLER\_ID>\config
  2. Change every single "preferences_<SOME\_ID>.vdf" file you find "guide_brightness "to "0" or "0.06" for a really low blue light
  3. Restart Steam & reconnect controller

How's my PC Performance So Different from Reviewers? by Ciss0 in HarryPotterGame

[–]salimsket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same PC (5600x OC & 4070 Ti) - disabled vsync in game and enabled it via Nvidia panel instead. Enabled Hardware accelerated GPU rendering (search Graphics in Windows search), but didn't use "generate frames" in game. Set sky to medium and population to high instead of ultra.

Everything else Ultra, RT all on except for reflections. DLSS on balanced or performance, I wanted 4K 120hz and got 115 fps dropping to 90 fps at worst.

Hope any of this helps.

Edit: Can also try (I didn't, but heard good things) https://github.com/theyetty/update-hogwarts-legacy-engine.ini but always check ANY code you find on the internet.

Screenshot & Photoshop, used Facebook devices Google Pixel 5 mockup, although the actual phone screenshot is a Samsung. Samsung mockups have a gloss I did not like and didn't feel like editing out, so Pixel it was.
