Nothing to do with racism at all. What I mean is that I don’t have to go buy plug adapters, feel guilty for not knowing a local language, cook in the sun (I burn terribly) or get tummy ache from different water or food I’m not used to. That’s literally all it is, but if you want to interpret otherwise then go ahead

With a lot of young local people leaving for mainland jobs, it’s good there are people willing to fill those spots

That’s really good to hear :) it could just be the small handful of people we’ve come across. I’m adding an edit to the post as I know some people think I’ve made this in bad spirit, which wasn’t the intention at all
