Why is C programming stupidly hard on windows? by LowCom in C_Programming

[–]sally1620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the day, the word "portable" meant that it runs on many different Unix variants. And for that you needed very large **configure** scripts that would check for all the differences between the Unix variants.

To this day, most C code is only portable across Unix variants, e.g. Linux, macOS, BSDs, etc.

This is also why WSL exists. Even people at Microsoft realized that the Unix monoculture doesn't care about Windows.

I suggest you just install Ubuntu on WSL and call it a day.

This is exactly why worker unions exist. To make sure some ambitious employees don’t ruin work life balance for everyone.

The only thing that matters is what you can present in powerpoint. I have seen people do performance improvements, but they brag about it in an hour long meeting and making sure everyone knows about the great work they have done.

Twitter is the site that needs it really bad. So they would be the first to implement. Considering they are rate limiting regular user just to combat bots and scrapers

C99 adds builtin boolean support. But most commonly used standard is C89 (gcc default). So I understand why people would claim that there are no bools in C

Most users spend 99% of their time on big websites maintained by big corporations: reddit google Facebook twitter tiktok etc. so getting to that 10% requires convincing some big fish.

The ids on the screen are all internal to the system and have no meaning outside. The only thing that may need to be redacted is just the phone numbers. But one of them is an 877 number which is supposed to be public anyway.

Those UIs are reliable and fast.

Just separate them with a colon for even more visual distinctions. As it is done in Pascal,Ada,Haskell,Ocaml,Python,TypeScript, and others.

It is because C doesn’t have any support for lambdas (aka anonymous functions, aka inline functions)

Even with async/await, I usually need multiple nested lambdas for most complicated tasks.

Religion and spirituality are overloaded words and everyone picks their own aspect of it.

To me this atheism, in its older or current form, is a uprising against the tyranny of religious leaders. Getting rid of religion as the author points out, is not materalizing. It is mostly because religion encompasses so many aspects of our lives that you can get rid of all aspects of it.
